T’was the day before summer, when all through the school,
Every creature was stirring, chaos was the rule.
Backpacks were hung in the cubbies with care,
Knowing that summer soon would be here;
The children were running, dodging in their Keds,
While visions of swimming pools danc’d in their heads,
Teachers exhausted, the year was a wrap,
We were all too ready for long summer naps-
When out on the playground there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our classrooms to see what was the matter.
Away to the doors we flew like a flash,
Dodging the trikes, it was quite a mad dash.
When all of a sudden, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But miniature children, our 2s, in tiny rain gear.
Another year in school, so lively and quick,
30 strong, each one is a top pick.
More rapid than silver trikes, the 3s became,
Brainiacs, and creators, no one was the same!
Now, Fiske Pre-k! Now, Wyatts! Now Owens and Knotts in the mixin!
Pre-k learned ABCs, some math, and a little non-fiction!
On the top of the monkey bars! And over the wall!
Pre-k, sing away! Sing away! Sing away all!”
As leaves that before a wild hurricane fly,
Kindergarten meets obstacles, and mounts to the sky;
With fresh air and lots of energy, we paraded outside
Where playgrounds and friendships took us through this wild ride.
As we drew in our heads, and turned around,
Down the stairs Pre-first came with a bound!
Redeemer students are they, from each head to each foot,
Clothes tarnish’d with mud and maybe some soot;
Their eyes - how they twinkle! Their smiles - how merry,
Knees that are skinned, and red like a cherry;
Broad faces, and little round bellies
In Pre-first, we laugh’d, like bowls full of jelly:
A wink of our eyes and a nod of the head
Our first, second, and third grade students led us straight ahead
We spoke of new things, and went straight to our work,
Filling all our hearts; the elementary division at Redeemer has plentiful perks!
Together we stand as one, so it goes.
And working together, united we rose.
We sprung to action, each day until dismissal,
And away we soared, as a team, it was official:
And here we are with more fun in good sight
Happy Summer to all, and to all a good night!
