Early this morning around 4:30am, our baptized brother in Christ, Carl Severson claimed the promise of his baptism, entering the church triumphant after a journey with Congestive Heart Failure.

Carl's health had declined rapidly over the last six weeks as PScott and Petey Webster visited him often. Carl was anointed with Commendation of the Dying on Holy Saturday right before Easter. PScott gathered with Carl again on Easter Monday and again on Easter Wednesday for continued prayers.

Born on All Saints' Day, November 1st, Carl now has joined the great cloud of witnesses who have fought the good fight and finished the race, and now he joins his bride Joyce cheering us on as we continue the race of faith set before us.

The Valley of Hope Spire will toll 86 times today announcing Carl's death the community. We remember the words of the Psalmist, though we walk in the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear nothing, for God walks with us, comforting us and protecting us, even in death.

Details on Carl's Liturgy of Resurrection are still to come and will be announced through future e-Anchors. We offer prayers for Carl's family, particular his nephew Wade and his wife Jennifer, as they have cared for Carl in these last months.

Blessed be the Memory of Carl Severson.
Rest eternal grant him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him.
We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of our souls. Hebrews 4:19a
