Dear MCC,
Hello from the Creating Change Conference! I am currently surrounded by over 3,000 LGBTQ+ advocates and faith leaders, who are all working toward a future that allows us to hope that we will not only survive but also thrive. I am eager to bring this enthusiasm home with me on Saturday, just in time to preach about solidarity on Sunday!
Archbishop Desmond Tutu reminded us that a powerful African idiom says, “A person is a person through other persons.” We are all interconnected and we are designed to rely on one another.
This Sunday, in our second week of our seven-week series, Blessed by Black History, we will talk about the importance of being community to one another. Times like now, when life feels so precarious for many in our community, we are reminded of the importance of being in each other’s lives and being present for one another. God has gifted us each other.
Join us on Sunday as we explore the possibilities that are open to all of us when we stand in solidarity with one another. Solidarity is discipleship.
You are loved,
Rev. Jakob
