ADVOCATE!
Did you know there is an entire website dedicated to Living Water: Season of Creation 2026? Take some time to explore it and look at the Advocacy Resources available.
You can also look here to see how The Episcopal Church approaches creation care and environmental justice. The Episcopal Office of Government Relations writes, "From an advocacy perspective, we affirm creation by supporting legislation and policies that protect and sustain life on Earth. The Episcopal Church calls for policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote sustainable energy, encourage the safe and just use of natural resources, and support communities impacted by environmental racism."
What might advocacy look like on a local level?
| | Supper Series: Second Chance | | |
Advent and First Parish UU, Medfield invite you to a simple supper at First Parish UU, at 6:30 PM, Tuesday, October 6. Ruth Raichle, co-founder of Bethany House Ministries and two current residents of the program will share the importance of Second Chances and the prison ministry.
Bethany House Ministries is rooted in the Gospel and in the spirit of Blessed Jean Joseph Lataste OP who recognized in his work with prisoners that Godās love has the power to heal, transform, and renew those who may have seemed hopeless to many. Bethany House Ministries fosters a compassionate and just world by being a community that stands in solidarity with those who are marginalized.
For over 30 years during the holidays, BHM has provided gift bags consisting of personal care items and writing tablets. This year, little Bethany House has agreed to provide gift bags for every person in six Massachusetts prisons, about 4000 persons. Because of security, the bags must be purchased through the Prison Commissary and the cost is about $15 per personāa total of $50,000 must be raised by early November 2026!
| If you wish to contribute to the holiday bags, please click the button below or make a check out to āBethany House Ministriesā and place it into the offering or mail it to: Bethany House, 1049 Main Street, Millis, MA 02054. | |
Common Art is Coming to Advent!
Sunday, October 25th
| | |
We are very excited to announce that on Sunday, Oct. 25th, artist from Common Art (part of Common Cathedral) will be joining us for worship followed by an art show and sale in our Parish Hall!
Common Art provides space, materials and support to unhoused and low income individuals as they develop their artistic abilities. People who live in shelters, rooming houses, on unclaimed couches and on Boston's streets, gather every Wednesday at Emmanuel Church to draw, paint, sculpt, make jewelry and share their gifts with other artists in a safe and supportive community.
There will be many ways to help make this day a success. Stay tuned!
