"Take Me Out to the Ball Game"

The Blizzard Foundation is dedicated to making baseball accessible for families and accessibility sometimes means participating as a fan. In this way, we are honored to sponsor a game of baseball exclusively for the friends and families of HopeKids and Crescent Cove. On August 12th, the Blizzard Foundation will bring together two baseball teams to play in an exhibition game solely for the friends and families of HopeKids and Crescent Cove. The event will take place at the University of Northwestern. We intend to provide a day of baseball and family fun without the need to navigate massive stadium crowds. Just like the big leagues we will have tailgaiting before and during, a ceremonial first-pitch, national anthem, and a great time!

HopeKids provides ongoing events, activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition. We surround these remarkable children and their families with the message that hope can be a powerful medicine.

Around the United States, there are over 4,700 hospice homes for
adults, but Crescent Cove is the third of its kind designed just for children and their unique needs, and the only home in the Midwest. Crescent Coveoffers care and support to children and young adults with a shortened life-expectancy, and to their families who love them.

Although closed to the public, we have an open opportunity for volunteers to serve or otherwise support the tail-gaiting/concessions. Contact Jeff Huth for additional information

Assistance Deadline Approaching - June 1st

The Blizzard Foundation wants to help maintain access to the game of baseball for families struggling with financial hardship. We believe baseball has a unique way of teaching the concepts of trust and relying on others, how to deal with adversity, and how to succeed and fail with dignity. It is our goal to help all families in time of need.

Who can apply?
All families with children from the ages of 5-18, regardless of affiliation, are eligible to apply for assistance. Application requests can range from equipment and program fees to baseball related experiences.

How to Apply:
Applications can be filled out by visiting  www.theblizzardfoundation.org  under the 'Apply for Assistance' tab. Applicants remain anonymous throughout the review process by the Blizzard Foundation board of directors. All applicants will be contacted by Blizzard Foundation's director, Jeff Huth.

Blizzard Foundation is Set to Host an 8-Week Camp for St. Paul Students

The Blizzard Foundation is pleased to announce a summer-long baseball camp for current 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Battle Creek Middle School. The camp aims to teach life lessons through the game of baseball. Equipment will be supplied. Snacks, water, and lunch will be provided at all sessions.

The camp will meet every Tuesday (10AM-12PM) starting June 12th through August 7th at Battle Creek Middle School. Battle Creek's own Mr. Sam Shoemaker will be helping coach throughout the summer. The camp will consist of  20 dedicated campers who are willing to make an 8-week commitment.

We believe baseball has a unique way of teaching the concepts of trust and relying on others, how to deal with adversity, and how to succeed and fail with dignity. Our goal is to develop these social and emotional skills while learning the game of baseball.

This camp is free of charge, thanks to the generosity of local business sponsors and will be facilitated by experienced baseball instructors from around the Twin Cities. The Blizzard Foundation believes in providing access to baseball for all families and empowering baseball players with the tools they need to be outstanding community members on and off the field. We look forward to working with the students of Battle Creek Middle School!

Camps, donors, and sponsors are always needed! If you can help, reach out to Jeff Huth at [email protected]
