#BiggerThanBaseball - Blizzard Foundation Brings Together Minnesota MASH and the Special Olympics of Minnesota

Over 20 members of the Minnesota MASH Baseball club will be teaming up with the Special Olympics of Minnesota during the 2018 State Bowling Tournament in Lakeville Saturday, December 1st. The Blizzard Foundation is thrilled to facilitate this pairing that allows the Minnesota MASH to stay in their local community and give back in a huge way.

MASH volunteers will be serving as lane monitors for the bowlers. Lane monitors will assist on the lanes by making sure athletes are bowling in turn and cheering on the competition.

The Blizzard Foundation wants to provide opportunities for all baseball players to be outstanding community members. We know that players who participate in community service develop a strong sense of empathy, help strengthen their community, and learn to work together for a common goal.

If you baseball team or association is looking for volunteer opportunities, please contact the Blizzard Foundation at  [email protected]

InSports Foundation Hits One Out of the Park

The fan base for the Blizzard Foundation continues to grow. We are very pleased to announce the Blizzard Foundation was selected to receive InSports Team Sponsorship for the month of October. The InSports Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a purpose to help kids participate in sports and pairs well with the Blizzard Foundation's mission of providing access to baseball for all families.

The InSports' Team Sponsorship will be used to help fund our summer camps across the Twin Cities. The InSports' Team sponsorship program has been established by the foundation to support programs that provide unforgettable sporting experiences for the youth they are serving.

The Blizzard Foundation hopes to continue to gain support of the local communities of the Twin Cities with hope to expanding camps each year.

Fall Clean Up Hitters Come in Clutch

On November 3rd, the Blizzard Foundation paired two baseball teams from the Minnesota Blizzard organization with Northeast Youth and Family Services. The group of players and coaches went around to help those in need do some fall cleaning. The volunteers stopped at five different houses throughout the day raking and bagging leaves. All of these homeowners are currently dealing with adverse circumstances. This was a great opportunity for the Blizzard organization to give back to their community while helping those in need.

"We couldn't have done it without teamwork, good attitudes, and the parents." Jake Kurth Blizzard coach continued, "and of course #BlueLove."

This marks the second year the Blizzard Foundation has paired a baseball organization with Northeast Youth and Family Services.  As we enter the volunteer season, the Blizzard Foundation hopes to work with other baseball organizations across the state. The upcoming goal for 2019 is to provide and complete over 1,000 hours of community service throughout the Twin Cities.
