As This Year Comes to a Close

This year, survivor voices were heard more clearly than ever before. Long-hidden truths came into the light, and conversations about human trafficking moved from silence to courage.

But awareness alone does not heal.

Hope is built quietly — through safe places to land, compassionate care, meaningful work, and a community that chooses love again and again. At Bloom, we see this hope taking root every day as survivors reclaim their strength, find belonging, and begin new chapters.

As we look toward the new year, we do so with deep gratitude and hope. We are building — spaces of safety, dignity, and restoration — and stepping into exciting new opportunities to expand care, deepen healing, and open even more doors for survivors in our community.

The need is real and close to home. Survivors are still waiting for safety, stability, and the chance to start over.

Your year-end gift makes this possible. Thank you for walking beside survivors, for believing in healing, and for helping transform awareness into lasting change.

Warm regards,

Carol Andersen

Bloom Featured in Lehigh Valley Voice

We’re honored that Lehigh Valley Voice highlighted Bloom in their December issue and the work we do to support survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation in the Lehigh Valley. The article shares a powerful look at our mission, our programs, and the impact our community makes possible every day.

We are grateful for this opportunity to raise awareness and help more people understand that sex trafficking happens here—and that together, we can be part of the solution.

Thank you for standing with Bloom and helping us spread hope throughout the Lehigh Valley.

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month, with January 11 recognized nationally as Human Trafficking Awareness Day. At Bloom, we are actively preparing a full month of awareness activities to educate, engage, and mobilize our community—details coming soon.

Some of our planned activities include:

  • A Town Hall event on human trafficking in the Lehigh Valley
  • A Red Sand Project awareness event at Bloom Creative Studio in mid-January
  • Partnering with churches to talk about human trafficking on Sunday, January 11
  • Ending the month on January 28 at the PA Capitol with a press conference and one-on-one meetings with state representatives to discuss critical issues impacting survivors

If you are interested in joining Bloom at any of these events, hosting your own awareness activity, or sharing materials with your church, organization or community group, please contact our Marketing Manager, Karen Higgins, at karen.higgins@bloomforwomen.org or 484-686-0262.

All Things Bloom Podcast: Bridging Needs and Neighbors

In our next All Things Bloom episode, airing this week, we sit down with leaders from PA 211 and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley to spotlight how the PA 211 Fellowship Program is strengthening community support while creating safe, trauma-informed employment opportunities for survivors.

We talk about the vital role PA 211 plays across Pennsylvania, the needs of local callers, and how this partnership is helping survivors build confidence, new skills, and long-term stability. You’ll also hear hopeful stories of growth and how this model can continue to expand with community support.

Stay tuned. It will air on our YouTube channel this week. Click the link below to listen to past episodes.

IN OUR HOMES...

Celebrating Participant Milestones

This season has been full of powerful steps forward for the women we serve, and we’re excited to share a few recent milestones from across Bloom’s programs:

  • Congratulations to one participant who successfully transitioned out of Transitional Living and into independent housing—a remarkable achievement and a testament to her hard work and resilience.
  • We welcomed three new women into the Bloom Residential Program, each beginning a new chapter of safety, stability, and healing.
  • Four women have now completed Bloom’s PA 211 Fellowship, gaining trauma-informed employment experience and building valuable skills for long-term stability.
  • Two new participants moved into our newest Bloom home, which is now fully ready—beautiful, peaceful, and prepared for new beginnings.

These milestones remind us why Bloom exists: to create pathways toward hope, independence, and flourishing. Thank you for supporting every step of this journey.

Current Needs in Our Homes

It takes a lot of resources to operate our five homes and ensure we are providing our survivors with what they need to heal and rebuild their lives. Currently, we are in need of the following, which all can be found on our Amazon Wish List:

  • Cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and paper towels
  • Gift cards for groceries and necessities
  • Gift cards for Uber or Lyft

HOW YOU CAN HELP..

Join Us in Finishing the Year Strong

As the end of the year arrives, Bloom is busier than ever walking alongside survivors and their children toward safety, healing, and hope. This year, we reached important milestones—including hosting our first Legislative Breakfast and raising our voices in Harrisburg to advocate for survivors who are too often unheard.

The need continues to rise. Nearly 40 survivors are waiting for a safe bed—our longest waitlist yet. Because Bloom receives no federal or state funding, we rely on our community to help cover essentials like transportation, mental health support, childcare, food security, and unexpected repairs in our homes. Your gift ensures we can say “welcome” instead of “wait.”

One participant recently shared:

“Bloom was my once-in-a-lifetime open door… Today I have a home, a job path, and a future I never thought I’d see.”

Now through December 31, your generosity doubles thanks to a $10,000 Matching Challenge—making your impact go twice as far.

Give today and help open the door for a survivor.
