Dear Bloom Residents, Families & Friends:
Please find our brief biweekly update. Our weekly message is: we need to remain vigilant with cases rising throughout the Country (and as we enter the holiday week); but we also remain extremely enthusiastic about the administration of the vaccine at Bloom Senior Living Vaccination Clinics, which are weeks, if not days, away. While we continue to see COVID-19 cases as positivity rates increase throughout the nation and we test often, seven of our nine Bloom communities have no active resident cases. The charts below, reflecting "active" and "total/cumulative" resident and associates cases, have been updated.

Testing
We continue to test weekly at our Indiana communities, every other week in Ohio and twice per week in South Carolina. While these tests have resulted in positive cases, they also -- by testing early and often -- allow us to isolate cases and limit the scope of any outbreaks to the best of our ability.
Please bear in mind that, like Thanksgiving, if a resident chooses to leave the community for the holiday, s/he will need to quarantine for 7-14 days (depending on the State) following the outing (with the exception of Bloom at Belfair Independent Living). As we previously reported, the Centers for Disease Control provided new guidance in this regard.

Vaccine Prioritization
In addition to what we previously reported, we distributed two releases regarding vaccination since our last update:
|
|
|
|
Yesterday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory panel, after sanctioning Pfizer's vaccine last week, backed Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine for people 18 and older; a key step paving the way to distribute the second Covid-19 vaccine in the United States as soon as this weekend. The advisory group’s recommendation will mean millions more Americans can be inoculated. Federal officials expect to ship almost six million doses to over 3,200 sites nationwide in the initial batch, while Moderna expects to deliver 20 million doses in all by the end of December. Moderna’s vaccine can be transported and stored at higher temperatures than Pfizer's, which needs special freezers and dry ice. The FDA plans to grant emergency use authorization to Moderna for the vaccine perhaps tonight, FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn and Dr. Peter Marks, director of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said in a statement last night.
We're in close and constant contact with our CVS pharmacy partners and hope to report dates and logistics to our Bloom commnunity shortly. We'll also be sending and posting to Facebook educational materials in the interim. We encourage our community to get vaccinated, which will keep our Bloomers physically safe and get us back to our pre-pandemic Bloom way of life! |

Our objective remains to move all communities back into Phase III as soon as practicable. The Phases are fluid based on changing circumstances. Here is where we stand currently:

County Positive Occurrence Rates
We're still monitoring County positivity occurrence rates. Counties are classified as green (below 5%), yellow (5-10%) and red (above 10%). All Bloom Counties are still operating in yellow and red as follows:
- Beaufort County, SC: 11.9% (increasing)
- Bossier Parrish, LA: 8.8% (decreasing)
- Cuyahoga County, OH: 19.3% (increasing)
- Howard County, IN: 16% (increasing)
- Marin County, IN: 15.7% (increasing)
- Pinnellas County, Fl: 7.3% (increasing)
