Dear Bloom Residents, Families & Friends:
While 2020 brought change, fear, challenges and the masks, it also brought togetherness, support, opportunities and the importance of family and community. Borrowing a verse from Semisonic's signature rock song Closing Time (and quote from Roman philosopher Seneca), "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." We wish you, and yours, a happy and healthy New Year and a new beginning.
The bad news is time flies. The good news is we're the pilot in 2021. In that vein, no more bi-weekly reports with an opening image of the virus. No more locking down the community out of fear. No more references (if you've read our 33 prior reports) to Brene Brown’s manifesto (Rising Strong), Tony Hsieh (of Zappos) or the story about a cup-bearer to get us through what lies ahead. And no more talking about that far off day when we can return to normal after traveling the pseudo yellow brick road. If you're an admirer of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, we, like Dorothy, have arrived at the road's ultimate destination -- the imperial capital of Oz, Emerald City. If you're not a fan of Frank Baum's 1900 children's fantasy novel, the light at the end of the tunnel we've been waiting for -- during the last nine months -- is here and shining bright. As Bloom begins vaccinating its community this coming week, we remain filled with hope and excitement about 2021 and pray you do too!
While positivity rates surge to peak levels throughout the nation following the holidays (as anticipated) and Bloom has "opened up," eight of our nine Bloom communities have no active resident cases. Six of our nine Bloom communities have no active associate cases (the other three communities have only one active case). More than half of our communities have no active resident or associate cases. In communities that saw spread since our last update, we were able to control and eliminate the virus. We're starting to vaccinate the Bloom community with only eight active cases at our nine locations serving nearly 750 residents through our nearly 400 heroic associates. The charts below, reflecting "active" and "total/cumulative" resident and associates cases, have been updated.
Finally, Bloom's infection rates remain low despite reopening its communities -- all of Bloom’s communities have returned to group activities, programming and dining. Eight of our nine communities permit visitation and are in at least Phase II Plus of our three phased reopening plan.

Vaccine
The below table reflects each Bloom community's vaccine clinic date, time and deadline for submission of consent forms (consent forms have been provided under separate cover). Bloom’s partner, CVS Health, will administer the vaccine within the Bloom community.
As you can see, Bloom’s South Carolina communities will be vaccinated next week. We’ve heard whispers that Bloom’s Ohio and Florida communities could follow as soon as the following week. We believe Indiana and Louisiana are not far behind. This is exciting!

We're still monitoring County positivity occurrence rates. Counties are classified as green (below 5%), yellow (5-10%) and red (above 10%). Bloom Counties are still operating in yellow and red as follows:

- Cuyahoga County, OH: 18.2%
- Pinnellas County, Fl: 8.2%

We still have to be careful and follow our protocols (parenthetically, we've launched a new sanitation program with a new chemical formula that has a 30-second kill time and will accommodate electromagnetic sprayers to enhance our cleaning protocols), but we've made it to a new beginning and a new dawn, a new day! Our future looks so bright and we will emerge from this pandemic stronger than ever!
