2025 MACo Summer Conference

Chrysalis House was honored to attend the 2025 MACo Summer Conference, where we joined changemakers, nonprofit leaders, and public officials from across Maryland. It was a powerful opportunity to share our mission, empowering women on their journey to recovery and healing, while also engaging in meaningful conversations about sustainable growth, equitable access to services, and innovative partnerships that support stronger communities.

Chrysalis House was especially grateful to connect with Maryland Nonprofits and others who share our vision for lasting impact. Events like MACo remind us of the importance of collaboration between nonprofits and local governments and the incredible potential we unlock when we work together. Thank you to the Maryland Association of Counties for creating space to exchange ideas, explore solutions, and build the connections that help move Maryland forward.

Intensive Outpatient Program Happenings

This month, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) clients and their children enjoyed a day of fun and connection at the North Arundel Aquatic Center, where they took full advantage of the water slides, pools, and a well-deserved break. Later in the month, the group turned their attention to future goals with an inspiring visit to the Anne Arundel Community College. During the visit, they toured the grounds and attended a presentation by a professor specializing in Health Services. The session covered available courses and career paths, a class focused on IPV and trauma, resources for individuals in abusive relationships, and important information on crisis management and campus safety. The Health and Science building was their favorite part. It was a powerful experience that blended summer fun with meaningful steps toward personal and professional growth. Stay tuned for some more upcoming outings for our IOP clients and their children.

Chrysalis House Healthy Start Happenings

Chrysalis House Healthy Start is excited to share a wonderful act of generosity from our friends at The New Song Community Learning Center in Baltimore City. This month, they delivered a thoughtful donation to support the children and staff of Chrysalis House Healthy Start (CHHS) as we prepare for the upcoming winter season. Their contribution included cozy cold-weather essentials for our little ones and beach bags filled with goodies for each of our dedicated CHHS team members. This meaningful gesture is a powerful reminder of how community partnerships help strengthen the work we do every day. We are incredibly grateful for New Song’s kindness and ongoing support. Together, we are helping to build brighter, healthier futures for the families we serve.

FarmUnity Garden

At Chrysalis House, healing happens in many forms and right now, it’s blooming in our very own yard. We are proud to partner with FarmUnity and our in-house Unidine chef to bring a farm-to-table experience directly to the women in our program. Together, we have transformed our FarmUnity Garden into more than just a source of fresh produce. It has become a symbol of nourishment, empowerment, and wellness. Our clients grow the food themselves and our talented Unidine chef turns these homegrown ingredients into nutritious, delicious meals like cucumber salad and eggplant parmesan. Even though the first year of a new garden is often slow to start, our harvest is already thriving - a reflection of the dedication and care being cultivated by our community. From planting to plating, this journey is a beautiful reminder that growth and healing often go hand-in-hand.

Want to get your hands dirty for a good cause? We would gladly welcome volunteers to help care for the garden, it takes a lot of love and attention to keep it flourishing! If interested, please contact Debbie Daugherty at ddaugherty@chrysalishouses.org
