Blowing Rock WinterFest

Don't Hibernate... Celebrate! It's almost Blowing Rock WinterFest again, and tickets are selling quickly. From WinterFeast to the Rotary Chilly Chili Challenge there is plenty going on to keep you and your family entertained from January 25-28. With both ticketed and free events happening simultaneously there will be a good time had by all. There will be ice carving demonsrations in the Park on Saturday, January 27, from 12-4pm, hayrides from 12-3 pm, and the ever popular Polar Bear Plunge starting at 10 am. Show up to support the plungers, or take the plunge yourself with registration starting at 8 am.

Meet the Ice Sculptors

The end of January gets downright festive in Blowing Rock during WinterFest. One of our biggest draws is the Ice Sculpture Stroll and Ice Sculpting Demonstrations in the park. Nathan Moran, the owner of Artisan Ice Sculptures has been partnering with WinterFest since 2006. Nathan "loves WinterFest because everyone really goes all out with the creativity to make their businesses and ice sculptures shine."

Best Holiday Glow

Funky Tulip won Best Holiday Glow for their intricate window display this year. From bright lights to hand painted details they really captured the spirit of the season! Check back next year for more of Blowing Rock's Best Holiday Glow!

Trails We Took In December!

2023 is the Year of the Trail in NC, and we're highlighting some excellent local trail experiences all year! In December we hiked the Blowing Rock Art & Sculpture Trail, Robbins Trail at the Blowing Rock, and a portion of Mountains to Sea Trail!

Oakley/Volcom Shred for the Cup Slopestyle Finals

The Shred for the Cup Series is the benchmark competition series in the region, with 3 events held throughout the winter season that test skiers & snowboarders skills in a variety of park disciplines (Rail Jam, Big Air, and Slopestyle).
