As I See It
Dear Alumni,
Along with shared weather this month—a heatwave has blasted New York and Maine—has come shared news, and the faculty is abuzz, more than usual in the waning summer and largely attributable to the arrival of the new Head of School Duncan Lyon. Change is invigorating: everyone cleans his desk and sees a bit better. This shivering first-day-of-school excitement has been felt as far away as here on the coast of Maine and I have been thinking of changes in my own work life.
At the reunion in June, I said that I wouldn’t be teaching anymore, and that is true. I have difficulty conceiving not getting up in the morning and readying myself to go into the classroom after over 50 years of teaching. To be honest, I don’t know how I’m going to feel when school begins in September, but I do know I will miss seeing the boys on a regular basis.
However, this change allows me to devote more of my time to you, the school’s alumni. Which is to say my schedule is open for more alumni visits and tours of the school. Feel free to reach out to the Alumni Office at alumni@allen-stevenson.org if you'd like to visit.
Stay in touch.
All best,
D. Kersey

Alumni Induction Ceremony
Before Graduation, Allen-Stevenson 8th grade boys gathered for the Alumni Induction and Pinning Ceremony.
Alumni Council Events Chair, Tristan Howard '96, spoke to the boys about the importance of his relationships with his classmates through the years and what it means to become an alumnus.
The 8th graders were then pinned by members of the Alumni Council, as well as some alumni fathers.
Welcome to the Alumni Community, Class of 2022!
