Grab and Go Meals Available for Summer
The School District of Washington will be offering FREE Grab and Go meals through the summer of 2021. This started on Wednesday, June 9, and run through Wednesday, August 18. The Grab and Go meals are available to all children under the age of 18. Pick up is every Wednesday at our summer school locations, Washington West Elementary, Clearview Elementary, and Marthasville Elementary, between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Washington High School Graduation
Washington High School’s 120th commencement was held Friday, May 28, at Washington High School’s Scanlan Stadium. There were 314 graduating seniors in the Class of 2021.
WINGS Recognizes Entire
School District of Washington Staff
This school year (2020-21), WINGS named all certified staff and non-certified support staff as SDOW Employees of the Year. The work the entire staff has done during a global pandemic does not go unnoticed. WINGS appreciates the staff’s adaptability and resilience during this very difficult year.

As a token of WINGS’ appreciation, all 657 employees of the School District of Washington received a gift of $20 from WINGS.
Washington NJROTC Recognized as Distinguished Unit With Academic Honors
The cadets of the Washington NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) have been recognized as a Distinguished Unit With Academic Honors for the 2020-2021 school year by the NJROTC Program Office and the Area Nine Manager.

Area Nine is comprised of 50 NJROTC units from Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma, Western Texas, New Mexico and Missouri. This is the first Distinguished Unit award for the program, which is completing its seventh year of existence.
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Commissioner Visits FRCC
Dr. Margie Vandeven, Commissioner of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), visited the Four Rivers Career Center on Monday, May 10.

Vandeven took a tour of the Four Rivers Career Center during the 75-minute event, visiting with staff and students from each program.
Dana Brinker, Darcie Rogala Awarded Reed Scholarship
Receiving the Dr. Jane and Doug Reed Scholarship for $2,000 apiece were Washington Middle School Language Arts and English teacher Dana Brinker (certified staff) and Marthasville Elementary Title I para Darcie Rogala (support staff).
SDOW Board of Education Receives Governance Team Award
The School District of Washington’s Board of Education has received the Missouri School Boards’ Association 2021 Governance Team Award for the fourth consecutive year.

This recognition is based on the outstanding commitment to ongoing professional development, regional and statewide leadership, and active participation in legislative advocacy for public schools demonstrated by the school board and superintendent.
Washington High School Scholar Bowl Team Places Second at
Class 6 State Championships
The Washington High School Bowl team captured second-place state honors during the MSHSAA Class 6 Championships on Saturday, May 8, at the MSHSAA Central Office in Columbia.
Washington Middle School Eighth Grade Celebration
Washington Middle School held its eighth grade celebration on Wednesday, May 26.

Eighth-grade students celebrated the end of the 2020-21 school year and looked ahead to high school with a number of games and activities outside, in the cafeteria and in the gymnasium.
Augusta Elementary Sixth Grade Parade
Augusta Elementary held its Sixth Grade Parade through parts of Augusta on Thursday evening, May 20.

Students in Augusta’s sixth-grade class, dressed in their Washington Blue Jays Class of 2027 T-shirts, rode in vehicles driven by family members. Many displayed signs on their vehicle displaying their name and a congratulatory message.
Washington High School National Honor Society Induction Ceremony
Washington High School’s National Honor Society induction ceremony was held on Monday, May 17, at the CJB Theatre.

There were separate ceremonies for both the 2021 inductees and the 2020 inductees, who did not have a ceremony last year due to the pandemic.
Campbellton Elementary Sixth-Grade Tunnel, Ringing of Bell on Last Day
Campbellton Elementary celebrated the last day of school with the traditional sixth-grade tunnel and ringing of the bell as the school day came to an end on Friday, May 28.
Board of Education Member Jason Oesterly Achieves Distinguished Certification

Jason Oesterly, Vice President of the School District of Washington’s Board of Education, has achieved Distinguished Board Member Certification from the Missouri School Boards’ Association. He now has Distinguished, Master and Advanced Certification.
Washington High School Class of 2021 Senior Parade

Washington High School held a Class of 2021 Parade through parts of the City of Washington on Wednesday, May 19.

Members of the 2021 graduating class from Washington High School, decked in their caps and gowns, rode in vehicles driven by family members. Many displayed signs on their vehicle displaying their name and a congratulatory graduation message.
