WINGS Hall of Honor Banquet Scheduled for September 24
The School District of Washington’s WINGS Educational Foundation is proud to announce the 13th class into the Hall of Honor. The Hall of Honor was initiated in 2009 to recognize alumni, former educators and community contributors who have shown exceptional personal, community or professional achievement.
Inductees Announced for Washington High School Athletic Hall of Fame
The Washington High School Athletic Department and the Washington High School Athletic Association are proud to announce the selections for the second class of the Washington High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony took place at halftime of Washington’s home opening varsity football game against Warrenton on Friday, September 2.
Marthasville Elementary Promising Practice
Marthasville Elementary recently was certified as a “Promising Practice” by Character.org, a national advocate and leader for character in schools and communities.

A total of 152 Promising Practices in schools and organizations throughout the United States were certified.
New Teacher Orientation for 2022-23 School Year
New Teacher Orientation for the 2022-23 school year in the School District of Washington took place Monday, August 8, to Wednesday, August 10, at the Technology and Learning Center.

The group of teachers had a full agenda for the three-day event. Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart was on hand to welcome the teachers to the district.
School District of Washington Workforce Connections Team Visits Trilogy, Mercy
The School District of Washington’s Workforce Connections team took part in industry tours with local business partners on Wednesday, June 22. A total of 15 members of the Workforce Connections team took part on June 22.

Workforce Connects was created to ensure each student has an opportunity to explore their work force passions and interests through experiences in the business community prior to graduating from Washington High School, while connecting careers and essential skills throughout the K-12 classrooms.
Horizons Academy Certified As Promising Practice
The School District of Washington’s Horizons Academy recently was certified as a Promising Practice by Character.org, a national advocate and leader for character in schools and communities.
A total of 152 Promising Practices throughout the United States were certified.
Author of 'Incredible Cardinals,' Fredbird Visit Clearview Elementary
The St. Louis Cardinals’ very own Fredbird and award winning author Ed Wheatley visited Clearview Elementary on Friday morning, August 26.
Washington School of Practical Nursing Graduation
Washington School of Practical Nursing held its graduation ceremony on Thursday, July 14, at the CJB Theater at Washington High School.

It marked the 52nd Anniversary graduating class of the Washington Practical Nursing program.
South Point Elementary Receives Grant for Playground Tables and Benches; Students Learn Advantages of Recycling
In 2021, the School District of Washington was in the process of constructing South Point Elementary.

Staff member Michelle Bobo contacted the East Central Solid Waste Management District-Region I, and shared plans to submit an application seeking funds through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Scrap Tire Material Grants.
Philip King Named New Four Rivers Career Center Director
Philip King is the new director of Four Rivers Career Center.

The School District of Washington’s Board of Education approved the hiring of King during a special zoom meeting on Tuesday, June 7.
WINGS Awards Grant for Elementary Multi-Sensory Literacy Support
WINGS Educational Foundation awarded a grant for elementary multi-sensory literacy support within the School District of Washington in the amount of $3,769.87.

Melissa Anderson, SDOW K-5 Literacy Curriculum Coordinator and Instructional Coach, accepted the grant at a recent WINGS meeting.
Paula Mueller Named SDOW, WINGS Support Staff Employee of the Year
Paula Mueller, Assistant Network Administrator/Technician, has been named the 2022 School District of Washington and WINGS Support Staff Employee of the Year.

WINGS recognizes a support staff person from the School District of Washington each year. The recipient receives a check for $1,000 and a plaque.
