Marthasville Elementary is hosting a Paint N' Snack event on Friday, January 18, 2019. The event is open to anyone ages 5 and older. You do not need to be a Marthasville Elementary family to participate.

Santa's Workshop at Augusta Elementary
|
Augusta Elementary School held a Santa's Workshop for all students, grades K-6, on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 10 and 11. Putting their arts and crafts skills to work, the students took turns visiting Santa's Workshop over the two days, creating holiday ornaments.

Early Learning Center Holiday Door Decorating

Celebrating the holiday season, staff at the Early Learning Center decorated their classroom and office doors during the month of December. Decorating classroom doors has become a popular way to celebrate the holiday season throughout buildings in the School District of Washington.

Students in the classrooms of Karen Conduitt, Julie Trentmann, Tracy Niccum, Rilee Carter and Cody Stapel at Washington West Elementary had its annual Christmas party with Michelle Kinney's Child Development class from St. Francis Borgia High School in the West cafeteria on Tuesday morning, Dec. 11.

Student Professional Development Day at Career Center

Four Rivers Career Center held a Student Professional Development Day on Thursday, Dec. 13. Community business leaders and education professionals from the School District of Washington, East Central College and the University of Nebraska gave presentations to the students covering a wide range of topics to help them prepare for their future.

Inaugural Girls Wrestling Season at WHS
|
Girls wrestling officially is a high school sport in the state of Missouri. This winter season (2018-19) is the first season for girls wrestling.

Students Help Design Superhero SRO Vehicle

The Washington Police Department and Signz360 revealed its new School Resource Officer vehicle at Ziglin Signs in Washington on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The Superhero car features totally original superheros Justice, Super Blue Jay and Stop It Boy.

WHS Students Complete Miniature Room Project
|
Students in Kristen Perriman's Housing and Interior Design class at Washington High School recently completed a miniature room project where they designed a room in a shoe box. The project had to include flooring, wall treatments, furnishings and decorations.

South Point Elementary Student Donates Friendship Bench
|
Charlie Davis, a fourth-grade student in Sonya Jones' class at South Point Elementary, showed off her caring nature with a wish she made for the holiday season.
Charlie told her mother, Samantha Davis, that her Christmas wish was to provide a friendship bench for South Point students to sit on during recess. The students can use the bench to sit with friends and also make new friends

Washington Middle School held its annual talent show and pep assembly on Thursday, Dec. 20, which was the final day of classes before the winter break.
A number of students participated in the talent show, which consisted mostly of singing and dancing performances.

The Washington Optimist Club recognizes students each month for the "Let Your Optimism Shine" award.

Marthasville Elementary STUCO Donates to Grace's Place
|
The Marthasville Elementary Student Council recently put together a RAD (Reading All Day) fundraiser to benefit Grace's Place Crisis Nursery in Washington.
During the fundraiser, involving STUCO students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades, for every dollar donated, they read for one minute.

Four Rivers Career Center Director's Awards
|
The Four Rivers Career Center handed out its Director's Award for the second quarter, given to students four times per school year at the end of each quarter.
Students from each program at FRCC, one morning student and one afternoon student, are recognized for the Director's Award.

Clearview Elementary Donates Food to Loving Hearts
|
Staff and students at Clearview Elementary recently completed their canned food drive with items donated to Loving Hearts food pantry in Washington.
Organizing the drive were students on Clearview's Community Outreach Leadership team.

WMS Students, Staff Participate in Adopt-A-Child Drive |
Participating in the Adopt-A-Child Drive," staff and students at Washington Middle School "adopted" 15 children ages 5-14 in the Division of Family Services system and after raising money, were able to meet the requests and needs of all 15 children. The school had well over 200 gifts wrapped and ready to go when representatives from the Division of Family Services picked them up on Friday, Dec. 7.

The Campbellton Elementary PTC (Parent Teacher Committee) put on their annual ornament making project during school Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3 and 4. During Stephanie Albert's art class, and with the help of parents, students made holiday ornaments by designing them and then making them.
|

Washington High School DECA hosted a Red Carpet Extravaganza fashion show for All Abilities Athletics on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the CJB Theater on the WHS campus.
Athletes from All Abilities Athletics wore whatever costume they wanted. Over $900 was raised through admission and raffle tickets.

In the School District of Washington, we have many things to be proud of as 2019 begins.
