Celebrating Thanksgiving

fireplaceThe Autumn leaves have fallen to the ground and the Halloween pumpkins are gone. The weather has a chill in the air and winter is around the corner.

Friends & families gather to share a Thanksgiving feast. The scrumptious kitchen aromas make their way to the dining room as we share a feast from the bounty of the season.

We send the blessings of the Thanksgiving season to you and your family.

We are proud to celebrate our 40th year.  The photograph below dates to 1946 when the Mease family occupied the Inn.  Do you recognize the front corner of the Inn? Tim McCarthy purchased the Inn in 1968, restored the building, and added our kitchen facilities.  We opened in November 1972 when a busy Saturday night was serving 80 guests.

Which Wine with Turkey

Which wine for Turkey - it's a question that comes up often. The answer can be as simple as - what do you like?  On Thanksgiving, there's a good match for every taste - whether you or your family and guests prefer white, red, or ros.

Prefer dry white wines - dry and oakey Chardonnay is the favorite choice with turkey. Sauvignon Blanc or a White Burgundy are also good all-around choices that pair well with everything from mashed turnips to turkey stuffing.

Prefer sweeter wines - White Zinfandel is the all-purpose favorite to go with most of your turkey feast.

Prefer something out of the ordinary - try a slightly spicy Gewurztraminer that's always a good match for the holiday bird. A slightly sweeter Riesling will also pair well with any dish at a Thanksgiving or holiday table.

Prefer red wines  - Pinot Noir is more robust than white wine, Pinot Noir has very little tannin and will likely blend well with the entire holiday meal. Serve it slightly chilled.

Still not sure?  How about a recommendation from Anne Strand, the "Wino Woman"
