What’s Next: Talk to Your Neighbors
On Monday, Senator Ben Ray Luján sat down with Bernalillo County Democratic leaders and gave us a clear assignment: talk to our neighbors — candidly, with facts. That’s how we win votes. Not with slogans. Not with vibes. With honest conversations about what’s actually happening and what it means for people’s lives.
Nationally the numbers are moving in our direction. Locally we already showed what organized turnout can do. Now the work gets more direct.
New Mexico still matters. We remain one of the clearest examples that Democratic governance can deliver real results for working families, public schools, and democracy itself.
That example only holds if we keep showing up.
We are not letting up. While we have solidified the Lt. Gov. vacancy with Stephanie Garcia Richards, Bern Co Dems have just filled the vacancy in HD 31 with Lisa Curtis. The full ticket needs us. And the path forward is simple: have the conversations Senator Luján asked us to have.
Talk to the people on your block. Tell them the truth. Bring them with you. How? JOIN OUR COORDINATED CAMPAIGN EVERY WEDNESDAY FOR PHONEBANKING!
That’s the job between now and November.
| While Republicans continue to talk about a “red wave,” voters are showing up for Democrats in primary elections across the country. Michigan is one of the clearest examples. In the August 4 primary, roughly 1.5 million voters participated in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, compared with about 930,000 in the Republican primary. a Democratic turnout advantage of more than 500,000 voters. And Michigan isn't an isolated example. In Nebraska's May primary, 35.5% of registered Democrats voted compared with 32.1% of registered Republicans, marking the first time in more than 30 years that Democratic primary turnout outpaced Republican turnout there. North Carolina showed a similar pattern earlier this year, with approximately 800,000 voters participating in the Democratic primary compared with 626,000 in the Republican primary. These numbers don't guarantee what happens in November but they do show something Republicans don't want to talk about: Democratic voters are engaged, organized, and showing up.The energy is there. Now we have to turn turnout into wins. | | Trump and RFK Jr. want to “Make America Healthy Again” by cutting childhood vaccines and undermining medical research. On August 10, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing major changes to federal childhood vaccine recommendations. This follows Executive Order 14407, signed on May 29, 2026, which began the administration’s effort to overhaul the nation’s childhood vaccine policy. This isn’t about making families healthier. It’s about putting politics ahead of science and decades of medical expertise. When vaccination rates fall and trusted public-health guidance is weakened, children and vulnerable communities are put at greater risk. Parents deserve clear, evidence-based information from doctors and scientists—not political talking points and conspiracy theories. | | |
