| | Building the Next Generation of Leadership: A Welcome from the New 2nd Vice Chair | | By Eric Valdez, 2nd Vice Chair, Democratic Party of Bernalillo County | | Eric Antonio Valdez 2nd Vice Chair | | |
My name is Eric A. Valdez, and I am honored to serve as the Second Vice Chair of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2017 with a degree in political science and a degree in communication. I graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2020.
I am a proud Democrat who strongly supports the working class. Mere words cannot begin to adequately describe how important it is that we support the working class. May we always remember that the working class is the backbone of the United States of America.
We must protect our immigrant communities, confront racial injustice, confront injustice targeting the LGBT+ community, ensure access to universal healthcare, raise the minimum wage, strengthen workers’ rights, expand access to affordable housing, and protect the environment.
As the Second Vice Chair of Bernalillo County, my primary goal is to work tirelessly to ensure that Bernalillo County remains blue. I greatly look forward to making sure that this takes place.

run off election day is today
This runoff election will shape the next chapter of Albuquerque’s story — and the stakes couldn’t be higher. From how we keep our streets safe, to how our children learn, to what kind of city we’re building for the future — it all depends on what we do right now.
The contests for Mayor — between Tim Keller and Darren White — and for City Council in Districts 1 and 3 will be razor-close. Every conversation, every door knock, every vote will make a difference.
Runoff Election Day is Tuesday, December 9th, and the polls are open 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at seventeen voting locations citywide. You can register and vote on the same day at any site — no excuses, no delays. For the full list of official voting locations, please visit the City Clerk’s website.

| | HOUSE DISTRICT 13 FALL 2025 COMMUNITY PLÁTICA | |
Join Representative Roybal Caballero for her fall Plática (conversation) on how New Mexico can align economic and environmental justice through unified, people-centered policy. Drawing from Secretary Deb Haaland’s experience leading the U.S. Department of the Interior, this discussion will explore legislative and executive strategies that uplift communities while protecting land, water, and workers.
We are grateful to welcome three powerful leaders whose work reflects the heart of environmental and economic justice in New Mexico:
• Chenoa Scippio, Santa Clara Pueblo and Navajo (Naschitti), serves as the Environmental Justice Project Coordinator with Tewa Women United. She brings a strong foundation in Population Health and Native American Studies from the University of New Mexico, centering this conversation in Indigenous community leadership and practical, community driven environmental justice work. .
• Marco Alarid White, Public Benefits Attorney at NMCLP, where he works to address hunger and improve public assistance programs for children and families in New Mexico. Marco worked with hunger relief non-profits during the pandemic and is also committed to improving mental health policy and access to psychiatric care.
• Gail Evans, Attorney with the Center for Biological Diversity, representing NM LAWS, an alliance of frontline, Indigenous, youth and conservation organizations who filed suit to hold the state accountable to its duties under the New Mexico constitution’s Pollution Control Clause.

| | Our Community Our Voice - NE Heights Dems | | |
Every Thursday, the corner of Paseo del Norte & Ventura NE (by Trader Joe’s and Albertsons) becomes more than just pavement — it becomes the people’s pulpit. From Noon to 1 PM, voices rise, signs lift, and hearts unite under one banner: Our Community, Our Voices!
We’re not just protesting — we’re proclaiming.
We’re saying no to tyranny, no to cruelty, and YES to the enduring promise that government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth.
Bring your passion, your poster, and your presence. Whether you’ve marched a thousand times or never before — this is your moment to stand tall, speak loud, and show that Albuquerque’s NE Heights has fire in its soul and love in its purpose.
Because when neighbors gather, democracy breathes again. 🌹💙

Protesting Tesla is stopping Musk. Stopping Musk will save lives and our democracy. The stakes couldn't be higher. But no one is coming to save us.
We need you!! Join us and protest all that the Trump administration has done and continues to do to hurt people and our country.
We are out there every single Saturday protesting in front of the Tesla Dealership. The more the merrier!
The dealership is on Indian land and we do not have permission to go on the property. Instead we gather at the huge intersection of Hwys 550 and 528 across from the Tesla Showroom in Bernalillo.
You may have heard that Elon said he is “stepping back” from DOGE to get back to the business of Tesla. Don’t believe it for a minute. We can’t let up now because
- his people are still installed across the government
- he’s already done enormous damage
- he’ll continue using Tesla stock to fund assaults on democracy
- other billionaires are watching closely to see what happens
We MUST double down on protests, pull more people in, and keep up the heat. See you Saturdays!!
This event is endorsed by Rio Grande Indivisible, Albuquerque Indivisible and Sandoval Indivisible.
