Blue Ridge Health District COVID-19 Vaccination Plans
Last week, Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) launched a new COVID-19 vaccination clinic site at the former Kmart parking lot in Charlottesville, VA.

BRHD is currently vaccinating Phase 1A individuals. Read below for more information about upcoming vaccine phases, including new surveys for Phase 1B, which includes frontline essential workers and individuals over 75.

Informational Resources:
Phase 1A
Current Phase
BRHD is currently vaccinating all Phase 1A frontline healthcare workers. At this time, all vaccinations are by appointment only for Phase 1A individuals.

Phase 1A Vaccine Survey for Frontline Healthcare Agencies
If you are a frontline healthcare entity in the Blue Ridge Health District (serving the City of Charlottesville and/or Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson counties) please complete this survey to inform BRHD of your need for staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This survey is only for healthcare provider groups. This survey does not guarantee the availability of vaccines at this time. If you or someone from your healthcare organization has already completed this survey, do not fill it out again.
Phase 1B
Anticipated Launch in Late Winter
During this phase, the following people will be eligible to receive vaccinations:
  • Frontline essential workers, including K-12 teachers and staff, grocery store workers, migrant farmworkers, corrections facility employees and people who are incarcerated, and those working or living in homeless shelters, and
  • People over the age of 75.
Phase 1B Vaccine Survey for Frontline Essential Workers
If you are a business owner/manager who employs essential workers as defined as those directly engaged in public-facing, face-to-face interactions (see list below) in the Blue Ridge Health District (Albemarle County, City of Charlottesville, Fluvanna County, Greene County, Louisa County, and Nelson County) please complete this survey to be placed on the BRHD list of employers requesting COVID-19 vaccines for staff.

Phase 1B Vaccine Survey for Individuals
If you are 75 YEARS OR OLDER living in the Blue Ridge Health District OR are
living/coordinating services for those in a correctional facility, homeless shelter, or migrant farmworker camp and have a FIRM commitment to be vaccinated against COVID-19, please complete this survey to be placed on the BRHD vaccine list.

This form is only to notify the Health Department of your specific demographics, it does not automatically schedule a vaccination appointment.

DO NOT fill out more than one survey. BRHD will be in touch when more information is available.
Phase 1C

During this phase, the following people will be eligible to receive vaccinations:
  • Other essential workers,

Take this brief quiz to find out which phase of the vaccination campaign you fall in.
Job Opportunity for Registered Nurses

BRHD is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to administer COVID-19 vaccines throughout the district. RNs need to be available 24-30 hours per week (for 6-12 months) with the ability to travel to various clinics throughout the health district. RNs will be paid $34 per hour.
COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard
VDH recently launched an interactive COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard where you can stay up-to-date with the latest number of individuals who have been vaccinated in our local health district.

This dashboard reports individuals vaccinated based on where they live, not where they received the vaccine.
Remember, vaccination is only one tool to end the pandemic. We need to use them all in order to return to normal day-to-day activities. Protect yourself and others by continuing to wear your mask, keeping your distance from others, and avoiding indoor gatherings.
What You Can Do

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a wealth of resources for businesses, households, schools, and faith-based organizations at cdc.gov/coronavirus. The CDC is specifically encouraging people to:

  • Wear a cloth face-covering in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies).
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Put distance between yourself and other people (social distancing).
  • Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects (e.g., tables, countertops, light switches, doorknobs, and cabinet handles)
Stay Up-To-Date on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information

The Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) is our community’s local public health agency and works closely with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). BRHD has opened a hotline at (434) 972-6261 to answer questions from the public regarding COVID-19. At this time, that number is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. The public can leave messages that will be returned as soon as possible.
