BLUE ROSE Releases Debut Album ‘BLUE MOON’: Where Folk-Rock Meets Fate

Folk-Rock Duo Delivers a Heartfelt Collection of Songs Reflecting Life, Love, and the Beauty of the Present Moment

"[Blue Rose’s] original music is emotive story-telling with an edge."

— RJ Frometa, VENTS Magazine

"Jori Griffith’s voice doesn’t just sing; it tells stories by the fire, while every instrument echoes the soul of America—from small towns to endless open landscapes."

— Natalie Abernathy, Indie Boulevard

“The hook, [of ‘If I Had a Rose’] captures the timeless heartache of country crooners like Patsy Cline or Hank Williams. The duo adds a guitar solo and instrumental break in the middle of the song, injecting the ‘old soul’ with a new country flair.”

— Jordan Ludwig, Music Mecca

“The duo’s chemistry is undeniable—Jori Griffith’s vocals carry a weight of lived experience, and Marcus Gebauer’s instrumental textures offer an unshakable foundation.

— Amelia Vandergast, A&R Factory

(Nashville, TN) Chicago-based folk-rock duo Blue Rose has released their debut album, ‘Blue Moon’, now available via Symphonic Distribution. Produced by Noam Wallenberg at Rax Trax Studios in Chicago, ‘Blue Moon’ is an eclectic collection of twelve tracks that blend timeless folk, classic rock, and contemporary country influences, all underscored by a deep celebration of human connection and the beauty of the present moment.

Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles, as well as modern acts like Kacey Musgraves, Mt. Joy, and Lainey Wilson, the duo's sound feels both classic and fresh, appealing to fans of both old-school rock and modern Americana. The title track, inspired by a rare supermoon event, became a symbol of their journey: “We took it as a sign… given that one of our mantras is ‘it’s there if you just look for it.’ Every song within the album, in one way or another, fits beneath this umbrella of ‘rare and beautiful.’”

More than just an album, ‘Blue Moon’ is the soundtrack to the duo’s own unexpected journey. Jori Griffith, a former mindfulness entrepreneur, and Marcus Gebauer, who spent nearly two decades in finance, met by chance in 2022. What started as a spark of mutual musical interest quickly grew into a full-time collaboration, reminding them—and their listeners—that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

“The last two years have been a miracle,” Jori says. “From the serendipity of our meeting to writing and recording a full-length record, we’ve done so much and grown so much - I’m awestruck.” Marcus adds, “Years of music and creativity had been pent up inside us, and ‘Blue Moon’ is just the beginning.”

Highlights include tracks like “Slow,” which encourages listeners to embrace the present moment, while “Let Me Love You” injects a bluesy rock energy into the mix. “Just Like Sheryl” is a heartfelt tribute to trailblazing female artists, and “If I Had A Rose” reinvents the Kelly Willis and Bruce Roberson tune with a new chorus and expanded instrumental arrangement. The gentle “Life Is Short” serves as a reminder to cherish the simple moments in life.

I want people to feel like they're home when they hear our record,” Jori smiles. “I want them to hear the meaning (encouragement, longing, love, loss, joy) in each of the songs. We're all connected, and we can honor that connectedness, that shared human experience, through the stories we tell each other and share in the form of music.”
