Head Coach Note

Dear Blue Tide Aquatics Families,

As we enter the final month of the long course season, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support over the past few months. Your encouragement and enthusiasm have been truly amazing, and it has meant the world to our coaching staff.

We are incredibly excited about the upcoming season and the new opportunities it brings. The Tide will be on the rise next year with some fantastic new coaches joining our already stellar team. We firmly believe that the best is yet to come for BTA.

As we close out these last few weeks of the season, it’s crucial to maintain our focus and dedication. Please ensure that your swimmers are attending all practices and getting the proper amounts of sleep. This final push is vital for our athletes to finish the season strong and carry that momentum into the next one.

Here are some valuable tips with articles for parents to help their swimmers prepare for their championship meets:

1. Trust and Positivity: Encourage your swimmer to trust in their training and maintain a positive attitude. Celebrating effort over results can reduce pressure and enhance their performance. It's crucial for parents to remain positive and supportive, regardless of the meet's outcome 5 Ways to Prepare for your Championship Swim Meet ----------------- Swim Mom: 5 Tips to help your Swimmer during championship Meets

2. Proper Nutrition and Hydration: Ensure your swimmer is eating balanced meals rich in proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Staying hydrated is also essential. Encourage them to drink plenty of water and avoid sugary drinks

3. Adequate Sleep: Make sure your swimmer is getting enough sleep, aiming for 8-10 hours per night. Proper rest is crucial for recovery and peak performance

4. Consistent Practice Attendance: Ensure your swimmer attends all practices, especially in the weeks leading up to the championship meet. Consistency in training helps maintain their conditioning and readiness.

5. Mental Preparation and Visualization: Help your swimmer practice visualization techniques. Imagining a successful race can boost their confidence and mental readiness. Encourage them to focus on what they need to do rather than worrying about potential mistakes.

6. Support Without Pressure: Be there to support your swimmer but avoid putting additional pressure on them. Let them enjoy the meet and the experience of competing. Encouraging words and a calm demeanor from parents can go a long way. 14 Parent Tips on How to Behave at Swim Meet

7. Healthy Snacks and Rest Between Races: Provide healthy snacks and ensure your swimmer rests between their races. Avoid overly processed foods and encourage them to stay off their feet as much as possible during downtime

By following these tips, you can help your swimmer enter their championship meet feeling prepared, confident, and supported. For more detailed advice, you can refer to resources such as SwimSwam's.

In Closing, there will be some changes next season, and the BTA Board and I are confident that these changes will propel us to even greater heights. We appreciate your trust and support as we continue to grow and improve our program.

Lastly, Megan and I would like to extend our deepest thanks for all the wonderful baby shower gifts. Your generosity and thoughtfulness mean so much to us.

Thank you for being a part of the BTA family. Here's to an exciting and successful season end and the new season ahead!

Warm regards,

Matt Sanspree

We Need Your Help! Come Support America's Birthday with BTA!

Dear BTA Families,

I hope you're all enjoying the summer as we dive into the long course meet season! Summertime is always fast, furious, and full of fun!

Our 4th of July parade is just around the corner, and we need your help to make it a blast! We’ll be setting up on Wednesday and celebrating on Thursday, July 4th. This event is a favorite for both our littles and bigs, and it’s a family tradition for many of us.

While BTA walked in the parade last year, it's been 5 years since we officially reserved a spot and decorated a trailer! Yes, it’s REALLY HOT, but our swimmers (young and old) have a great time together. Please consider donating your time and resources to help. We need:

- Float decorators (channel your inner Martha Stewart!)

- Balloon Crew (because who doesn’t love balloons?)

- Candy donations (to sweeten up the crowd)

- Freezer pops donations (to cool down the crowd)

- Parade walkers wearing your BTA shirts (strut your stuff!)

And now for the fun part: the group with the best attendance will win a pizza party! Coach Matt will give each kid a high five at the parade. That’s right, high fives from Coach Matt!

I really appreciate your help. Please sign up using the Signup Genius link below:

More details will follow, but we will ask all participants to wear BTA shirts, BTA colors, tutus, swim gear, swim caps – anything fun to show our team’s BTA pride! We would LOVE a huge turnout!!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at secretary@swimbluetide.org.

Thank you!

Coach Matt

BTA Swim Announcements

Information for the 2024 - 2025 Season

Blue Tide Aquatics (BTA) will take an annual two-week break starting onJuly 29th and running until August 11th. Returning BTA members will resume with shortened practices from August 12th through August 16th. We will hold an evaluation day for all new BTA members wishing to join on August 17th at the BTA pool. We will have a BTA Team Day on August 19th, where everyone will meet their coaches and discuss the upcoming season. A two-week stroke clinic will then commence on August 20th. Please be on the look-out for more information in the coming weeks!

Join BTA in the Kingwood 4th of July Parade!

We are excited to announce that Blue Tide Aquatics (BTA) will be joining forces with the Kingwood Civic Club and Kingwood Rotary Club for the 4th of July parade on Thursday, July 4th, 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Independence Day with the biggest and best parade in Houston—possibly all of Texas! Lineup for the parade begins at 7 am at the corner of Rivers Edge and Sandy Forks Drive (enter on Feather Lakes Way by the Post Office). Once this street is filled, the lineup will continue on Haven Brook and Sandy Forks Drive (enter on Rustic Woods).

Float judging will commence at 9 am, and the parade will officially kick off at 10 am from Creekwood Middle School on Sandy Forks. The parade will conclude when all participants reach Kingwood High School. Just so you know, candy, beads, and other items cannot be thrown from floats and trailers. Walking participants may hand out these items, provided they are not thrown. This precaution ensures children's safety and prevents them from running into the street. Let's work together to make the Kingwood 4th of July Parade a fun and safe event for everyone!

Time Standards

USA Swimming time standards serve as benchmarks for assessing swimmers' progress and performance levels, particularly younger athletes, across various age groups and events. These standards are meticulously designed to offer a clear framework for swimmers to aim for, starting from the local and regional levels and advancing through to national competitions. They categorize performances into different levels, such as B, BB, A, AA, AAA, and AAAA, with each level representing a progressively higher performance standard. This system not only fosters a sense of achievement and motivation among swimmers by providing tangible goals to strive for but also aids coaches in tailoring training programs to meet each swimmer's individual needs. Furthermore, these time standards facilitate the selection process for various swim meets, ensuring that participants compete against others of comparable skill levels. This structured approach to competition helps measure progress and success, encouraging swimmers to continue improving and advancing in the sport. By comparing times against these standards, swimmers, coaches, and parents can gauge improvement, set goals, and understand where a swimmer stands about peers at the local, regional, and national levels.

We Need You! Fun Way to Volunteer and be on Deck!

Every swim club relies on the dedication and expertise of officials to successfully conduct swim meets, ensuring fair competition and adherence to USA Swimming rules. When clubs participate in away meets, it's equally important to bring along officials who can contribute to the smooth operation of these events. Becoming a USA Swim Official not only offers a unique vantage point to experience the excitement of swim meets but also provides a rewarding opportunity to support your swimmer and the broader swim community. Embrace the chance to make lasting friendships with fellow parents and volunteers, all while playing a pivotal role in the sport you love.

By deciding to become an Official, you're offering a valuable gift of time and talent to the swimming world, enhancing the experience for all involved. Whether you lean towards being a Stroke & Turn Judge, who closely observes swimmers' techniques and ensures compliance with USA Swimming rules from poolside, or prefer the role of an Administrative Official, managing meet information and serving as a go-to resource for questions, there's a path that suits your skills and personality. Both roles are crucial, offering different perspectives on the meet but sharing the same goal of facilitating a fair, enjoyable competition. Full training is provided for both positions, requiring no previous swimming knowledge, making this an accessible way to contribute significantly to your swim club and the sport at large. Take the step today and become an integral part of the swimming community as an Official.

There are two paths: Stroke & Turn Judge or Administrative Official. They are different classes, and they are different jobs. You should choose one path, based on personality and fit, and work your way through the process.

Stroke & Turn Judge - USA Official who stands at the edge of the pool during swim meets and observes the swims of the swimmers. Reports observations that deviate from the USA Swimming rules. Full training is offered, and no prior swimming knowledge is needed.

Administrative Official - USA Swimming Official who serves as an information center at meets by entering information into computers, answering general questions from swimmers, coaches, other officials, parents, and spectators. Full training is offered, and no prior swimming knowledge is needed.
