Hello, everyone! I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy! We still have quite a bit of sickness but our numbers are definitely better. Keep washing those hands!
We have a couple of important calendar changes. Spring sports pictures have been moved to Thursday, February 8th at 7:45 a.m. Spring school pictures (for everyone) will be taken on Tuesday, March 5th beginning at 8:00 a.m.
PTO will have a meeting this Tuesday, 2/6 at 4:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. All parents are welcome to attend. There are lots of great volunteer opportunities and ways to help serve!
Our student council is hosting a Junior High Valentine’s Dance on Friday. The theme is PJs and it is only $5 to attend the dance from 6:00 - 8:00. On Saturday night, our junior class is sponsoring our annual Daddy/Daughter Dance. We would love to see all of our young ladies in grades pre-k through 5th come with their daddy or special guest. We want everyone to participate that would like to! This is always a really fun event. The cost is $20 and $5 for each additional girl in the same family. This dance is also from 6:00 - 8:00.
Our JH basketball teams will play their last games on Monday night here at home against Strawn beginning at 5:00 p.m. Our varsity girls will play their last game of the season on Tuesday in Gorman beginning at 6:00 p.m. Our varsity boys also play Gorman on Tuesday night and they will travel to Gordon on Friday for a game beginning at 6:00 p.m. The varsity boys will play their last game of the season here at home against Lingleville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13. This night is also our senior night for the boys.
Just a reminder that only students participating in JH Academic UIL will be attending school on February 15 and Friday, February 16 is a holiday for everyone. Monday, February 19 is a workday for teachers and a holiday for students.
Another reminder that on Wednesday, our 4th and 6th grade students will be taking a state ELAR field test. Our district was randomly selected by the state to give this test. This is not a STAAR test.
For all high school students, Prom tickets are now on sale. Tickets are $35 for students (except BDHS seniors who are not charged) and the same price for dates. If money is an issue, please reach out to me and the fee will be taken care of and kept confidential. In order for a student to bring a date that is not a BDHS student, there must be a form filled out and returned to the school. These are available from Mrs. Finley.
