Fred W. Layman III
Fred recently assumed the role as the Director of the Doko Manor Conference Center and Meadows Park in Blythewood, starting in August. He is a devoted family man married to his wife, Ani Michelle. They have six children, aged 2-14, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their seventh child in October.
As a former Columbine High School athlete, Fred excelled in baseball, tennis, golf, and wrestling, ultimately earning a tennis scholarship to Bethany College. His career has since revolved around the club industry and sporting events at various levels. Before moving to Blythewood, Fred and his family spent 22 years in Augusta, where he managed multiple golf, tennis, swim, and fitness clubs. Before accepting the position with the town, Fred served as the General Manager of the Windermere Club for seven years.
Fred and his family have appreciated the warm sense of community they’ve found in Blythewood. They enjoy activities like golfing, beach outings, and spending quality time together. Fred enjoys a variety of sports, including golf, running, tennis, and watching baseball and football. His favorite foods are meat and potatoes, and ice cream.
Fred is passionate about tackling challenges and is driven to enhance initiates for the Manor, Park, and the Town of Blythewood. He feels privileged to manage the Town's impressive facilities and to engage with the Town of Blythewood’s staff and community in a positive impactful fashion. Fred is looking forward to the future of Blythewood and his role at Doko Manor and Doko Meadows Park. He has a servant’s heart, and his goals are focused on customer and community experience.
His first significant project with the Town of Blythewood is preparing for the upcoming Christmas Tree lighting and Christmas Parade in December. He is currently seeking dedicated committee members and volunteers to help organize the Christmas Parade and keep up the wonderful tradition it has had on the community over the years.
