Last night, our Board members approved a plan to create a new home for our administrative offices at the business campus previously occupied by Bayer Consumer Health (3030 Jackson Ave.).

This is an extremely exciting opportunity for us to centralize operations and improve efficiency, productivity and communication across all of our departments, which will no doubt lead to greater support for our schools. We currently have more than 1,500 central office employees working at multiple sites throughout the county, so this move will be instrumental in making the central office a true collaborative service center for staff and families. Another major benefit of this plan is the savings of $44 million in deferred maintenance on our aging administrative buildings.

In terms of timeline, we are very early in the process. We will be developing a comprehensive relocation plan to share with the Board in the weeks ahead. That said, I can assure you nothing about this plan will be rushed. Once we have a clear timeframe in mind to start the relocation process, there will be a very structured approach for departments to move into the new facility. Safety is of course a top priority as well, and we are taking every possible step to make sure the entire campus and all facilities are safe for our employees.

A lot more information will be coming in the months ahead as we get further along in our plans, including meetings and other opportunities for employees and the community to learn more about the project. Employees can also look forward to some fun ways to be involved in the campus design plans along the way!
