Board Brief from the March 28 Meeting
In an effort to keep our community up-to-date and informed of actions taken by the WUSD Board of Trustees, we will be sharing Board Briefs on a regular basis. Board Briefs are a short summary of key actions taken on WUSD Board of Education agenda items. We hope you find this information helpful!

Second Interim Financial Report - The Second Interim Financial Report is inclusive of the current year Federal dollars, the State Local Control Funding Formula, and Board approved on-going expenditures. The Multi-Year Projection meets the criteria and standard for fiscal solvency and therefore, meets the definition required for a positive certification.

The Board of Trustees reviewed and approved the WUSD Second Interim Financial Report for fiscal year 2018-19. The WUSD Fiscal Services Department prepared many informative pieces of information. A power point presentation and narrative show a multi-year projection describing the current budget as of the 2nd Interim. Also included is a look at multi-year projections that show the results of the budgetary reductions recently made. There is also a look at increased costs of operations for 2019-2020 and recommendations to the Board. View the Executive Summary of Budget & Savings Yielded from Reductions.

School Climate and Student Discipline - In light of recent concerns of student behavior, the WUSD Board of Trustees received a presentation prepared by the Student and Family Support Services Department with an update on district-wide progress on School Climate. The information and discussion included current progress to efforts on suspensions at all school sites and alternatives to school discipline in helping students stay in school while trying to change behaviors to support the students' success in class. While there is not one right answer, the WUSD holds School Climate as a high priority in ensuring a safe, appropriate environment conducive for learning. View the Student Discipline Presentation.
