2024 Budget Update
Throughout December, our Board of Park Commissioners and Park District staff worked together to complete the District’s budget for 2024. The budget is ready for review.
At the December 11 regular board meeting, Executive Director Steve Wilson shared the 2024 tax levy information. He stated that the overall tax levy increase is 2.52% when compared to the prior year tax levy extension.
At the same meeting, Superintendent of Finance Sheila Foy presented highlights of the 2024 budget. She outlined how the 2024 budget results in a $6.2 million operating surplus, which along with District reserves will fund a Capital Projects Budget of $9.2 million and a debt repayment in the amount of $1.5 million, resulting in an overall deficit budget of $4.6 million.
The board plans to adopt the Budget and Appropriations Ordinance at their January 8 regular meeting.
In his meeting report, Wilson wrote, “The budget is a very important part of the annual responsibilities of both the board and the staff, and as a result, many hours are invested in its creation. I want to thank everyone for their contributions, their time spent on the matter, and their interest. Most of all, I want to thank our Superintendent of Finance, Sheila Foy, for all of her hard work with our team in getting the budget fully situated for 2024.”
