BOARD MEETING FORMAT
In response to the Governor's executive order and social distancing guidelines to help limit the spread of COVID-19, the July 20, 2020 Board of Education meeting was held in person with limited seating and also streamed live online, remaining open to the public.
REOPENING PLAN FOR 2020-21
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick Broncato, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning Greg Wolcott, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Bill Schmidt and Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Curt Saindon discussed the back to school goal; guidance received from the State Board of Education, Illinois Department of Public Health, and DuPage County Health Department; and considerations in all facets of the school district. Administration presented the Board of Education a plan to reopen schools under a hybrid learning model with full remote option for families.

After lengthy discussion and debate, the COVID-19 Hybrid with Remote Option Reopening Plan did not pass. The Board then proposed, and ultimately approved, remote learning for all students to start the school year with a phased-in approach t o some in-person instruction at a later date to be determined as more information becomes available regarding the health risks of student interaction in school.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public comments were presented in person, and since in-person seating was limited at the meeting, public comments were also submitted in writing prior to the meeting and placed into the public record. A number of comments and questions, all on the topic of reopening schools and what the upcoming school year might look like, were submitted by the following Woodridge 68 community members: Melissa Anderson, Maria & Claudio Borchichi, Colleen Erbach, Rachel Ermel, Brenda Hoppestad, Jennifer & Justin McConkey, Eileen Murphy, Scott & Brigit Parratore, Susan Pauna, Erin Perry, Laura Petry, Rebecca Sayad and Mike Temes.
WESS COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT APPROVED
The Board of Education approved the 2020-2023 collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and the Woodridge Educational Support Staff. Some of the substantive changes included in this three-year contract include salary, paid holidays, evaluation, and leaves. The biggest change, however, involves insurance. The Board currently pays a portion of the monthly insurance premium for each full-time employee in this bargaining unit working 12 months per year (or 7.5 or more hours per day). With this new contract, the Board contribution will increase for these employees, and for the first time the Board will pay a portion of the monthly insurance premium for any employee who works at least 6 hours but less than 7.5 hours per day.

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources thanked the WESS and District negotiating teams for their time and effort in fashioning this agreement. The Administration is pleased to be able to continue to work in a collaborative nature with WESS in an effort to ensure that our students have the best educational opportunities available.
