Pledge of Allegiance

Student Council officers from Goodrich led the Pledge of Allegiance to start the school board meeting.

Goodrich school improvement plan

Goodrich School Principal Dr. Paul Scaletta, along with teacher Jenna McGovern, presented the school's 2026–27 School Improvement Plan to the Board of Education, highlighting efforts to strengthen student writing, improve instructional practices and promote a positive school culture.

A primary focus of the plan is improving student writing across all grade levels and subject areas. Using assessment data to identify areas of need, teachers are implementing targeted writing instruction, consistent feedback, individualized student goals and regular one-on-one conferences. Progress will be monitored through writing assessments, grade-level rubrics and state assessment results.

The presentation also highlighted microteaching, a professional learning strategy that allows teachers to reflect on recorded lessons and receive feedback from colleagues, as well as collaborative learning strategies designed to increase student engagement.

Beyond academics, Goodrich continues to build a positive school culture through its Gator Game-Changers recognition program, which celebrates students who demonstrate the school's expectations to Be Nice, Be Safe and Be Ready to Learn. Student-led service learning projects will also provide opportunities for students at every grade level to make a positive difference in their community.

Intergovernmental agreement with Woodridge Park District

The Woodridge 68 Board of Education approved an amendment to its intergovernmental agreement with the Woodridge Park District, continuing their partnership to provide recreational facilities for students and the community. The agreement includes a new challenge course at Jubilee Point Park, adjacent to Thomas Jefferson Junior High School. The $520,000 project is expected to receive $400,000 in state grant funding, with the remaining costs shared equally between the district and Park District. Woodridge 68's contribution is capped at $60,000.

The agreement also establishes a long-term plan for playground improvements at district schools, including shared funding for future projects, regular equipment evaluations and coordinated replacement schedules. Future projects will require separate approval.
