The Board voted to approve Investment Procedures as presented at the November 5 meeting.
Program of Studies and Course Fees
The Board voted to approve the Program of Studies for both schools that include the language that fees are subject to change after printing. The most up-to-date information can be found on the District website.
Policy 6:310 Credit for Alternative Courses and Programs, and Course Substitutions—Second Reading
The Board reviewed Policy 6:310 High School Credit for Non-District Experiences; Course Substitutions; Re-Entering Students School District Philosophy for second reading. The item will come back for a vote on December 10.
Assign Emergency Day December 21 as Attendance Day to Recover November 26 Snow Day
The Board agreed with Superintendent Dr. Bruce Law’s recommendation to make Friday, December 21 an official day of school to recover the day lost to the blizzard on November 26. This means the last day of first semester finals will now be Friday, December 21.
Targeted Reductions to Increase Spending on Facilities
As requested, Administration provided more detailed information to reduce spending in the budget in order to increase spending on the facilities at Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central for 2019-20. The Board requested that Administration bring back additional information for the December 10 Special Meeting so that the Board could vote on reductions.
The Board requested the following information:

Detailed transportation numbers and potential options to reduce cost such as charging for transportation, reducing the number of routes, extending the current maximum one-way time limit of one hour for students riding the bus

Incremental detail incurred by making classes 25, 26, 27, or 28 students

The total cost of athletics by program and a detailed breakdown of activities costs

The Board also directed Dr. Law to reach out to the Hinsdale High School Teachers Association (HHSTA) to explore the possibility of reductions they could agree to in the current contract
Follow-Up to November 6 Referendum Results
Board members discussed their thoughts about a potential referendum on the April 2, 2019 ballot. The Board indicated that it would continue to discuss this item with the goal of making a decision by the December 17 meeting.
