University Affiliation Agreements
Cypress School District partners with local universities to provide fieldwork experience for students enrolled in programs related to the field of education. This month, the Board approved renewal of an affiliation agreement with National University for students working toward a teaching credential, as well a new agreement with California State University, Northridge, for speech-language pathology/audiology students.
Revised 2017/18 Academic Calendars
The Board previously approved traditional and year-round academic calendars for the 2017/18 school year in March 2016.  Minor revisions have been made to staff development, non-student parent conference, minimum day, and report card distribution dates.  The revised calendars are available on the district's website.
Proposition 51 Consulting Services
Subsequent to the passage of Proposition 51, the California Public School Facility Bonds Initiative, in November 2016, the Board approved a contract with School Facility Consultants for consulting services related to determining the district's funding entitlements. The anticipated cost for these services will not exceed $7,500.
Roofing Maintenance at Cawthon and Swain School Sites
The Board authorized amending a painting project at Cawthon School, which was previously awarded to M.P. South, Inc., to include roofing maintenance work at the Cawthon and Swain School sites for an additional cost of $68,458.60.
Daycare Portable Building Project on Cawthon School Campus
The district currently leases its Cawthon School site to Grace Christian School. In December 2016, the Board entered into an agreement with Grace for the purchase and installation of a portable classroom building for their new daycare program. Under the agreement, Grace will reimburse the district for all costs associated with the project.  Installation of the building was completed on time and under budget. At the March meeting, the Board approved a deductive change order in the amount of $23,723.10 and authorized filing a notice of completion with the County of Orange.
2015/16 School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs)
School districts are required by law to publish an annual School Accountability Report Card (SARC) to provide parents and the community with important information about each of its schools.  The Board approved publication of the district's 2015/16 SARCs, which can be found on each school's website and the district website.
Trustee Area Election Maps
Dr. Justin Levitt of National Demographics Corporation provided a report to the Board on the two community meetings held on January 30, 2017, and on February 1, 2017, regarding the three draft trustee area maps. The Board discussed the three options and requested additional information, which will be presented at the March 8 Board Meeting.
