Tandy Taylor, Director, Instructional Services, and Julie Gautreau, Coordinator, Assessment and Technology, presented information on the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan, which included year-to-date progress on the district's 2016/2017 LCAP goals; an overview of the services provided to support the district's English learners, low-income students, and foster youth; and the district's response to the program needs identified by the 2016 Smarter Balanced assessment results.
University Affiliation Agreements
Cypress School District partners with local universities to provide fieldwork experience for students enrolled in programs related to the field of education. This month, the Board approved renewal of an affiliation agreement with National University for students working toward a teaching credential, as well a new agreement with California State University, Northridge, for speech-language pathology/audiology students.
Revised 2017/18 Academic Calendars
The Board previously approved traditional and year-round academic calendars for the 2017/18 school year in March 2016. Minor revisions have been made to staff development, non-student parent conference, minimum day, and report card distribution dates. The revised calendars are available on the
Proposition 51 Consulting Services
Subsequent to the passage of Proposition 51, the California Public School Facility Bonds Initiative, in November 2016, the Board approved a contract with School Facility Consultants for consulting services related to determining the district's funding entitlements. The anticipated cost for these services will not exceed $7,500.
Roofing Maintenance at Cawthon and Swain School Sites
The Board authorized amending a painting project at Cawthon School, which was previously awarded to M.P. South, Inc., to include roofing maintenance work at the Cawthon and Swain School sites for an additional cost of $68,458.60.
Daycare Portable Building Project on Cawthon School Campus
The district currently leases its Cawthon School site to Grace Christian School. In December 2016, the Board entered into an agreement with Grace for the purchase and installation of a portable classroom building for their new daycare program. Under the agreement, Grace will reimburse the district for all costs associated with the project. Installation of the building was completed on time and under budget. At the March meeting, the Board approved a deductive change order in the amount of $23,723.10 and authorized filing a notice of completion with the County of Orange.
