School Presentation: Clara J. King Elementary School

Students from King performed two songs from the school's 24th annual school musical, Shrek Jr. 

BOARD ACTIONS

Consent Agenda

The Board approved a number of routine consent items, including gifts and grants to the district, Human Resources transactions, purchase orders and checks, and contract renewals. Details regarding these items can be found in the Board meeting agenda.  


Recognition of Certificated and Classified Employees

Resolutions designating May 14, 2025, as Day of the Teacher and May 19-23, 2025, as Classified School Employee Week were adopted to honor the district's certificated and classified employees for their dedicated service.


Collective Bargaining with Association of Cypress Teachers (ACT)

A public hearing was held regarding ACT’s proposal for 2025/26 negotiations, which includes wages, hours of employment, class size, and procedures to be used for the evaluation of certificated employees. No speakers addressed the Board during the public hearing, and the Board subsequently voted to accept the ACT proposal.


A second public hearing was held regarding the district’s proposal to ACT for 2025/26 negotiations, which includes wages, hours of employment, health and welfare benefits, leaves, class size, and procedures to be used for the evaluation of certificated employees. No speakers addressed the Board during the public hearing, and the Board subsequently adopted the district’s proposal.


Replacement of Playground Equipment and Surfacing at King

The Board approved contracting with Dave Bang Associates for the purchase and installation of playground equipment and rubber playground surfacing at King at a total cost of $182,725.44. The work is scheduled to take place over the summer. 


Furniture Purchase for Landell

The Board authorized the purchase of replacement staff chairs at Landell from Culver-Newlin using a San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools piggyback bid at a total cost not to exceed $35,000. 

INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

Williams Legislation Uniform Complaints, Third Quarter 2024/25

The Board received a report indicating the district received no complaints during the third quarter of 2024/25 related to instructional materials, emergency or urgent facilities conditions that pose a threat to the health and safety of pupils or staff, or teacher vacancy or misassignment.
