SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

School Presentation: A.E. Arnold Elementary School

The students and advisors of the Arnold Media Production Team presented the website they created which showcases their work in video production, blogging, and digital content creation; highlights their projects; and demonstrates the skills they've developed in storytelling and multimedia communication.

Staff Report: Local Control and Accountability Plan Progress Update

Tandy Taylor, Executive Director, Educational Services, provided the Board with an update on the district's Local Control and Accountability Plan.

BOARD ACTIONS

Consent Agenda

The Board approved a number of routine consent items, including gifts and grants to the district, Human Resources transactions, purchase orders and checks, and contract renewals. Details regarding these items can be found in the Board meeting agenda.  


Library Book Donation

Every year, in honor of Day of the Teacher and Classified School Employee Week, the Board of Trustees donates a book to each school library. This year’s book is Buffalo Fluffalo, a national bestseller written by Bess Kalb.


Golden State Pathways Program Grant Funding

The Board approved an agreement with the Orange County Department of Education for participation in the Career Connected Schools initiative, which focuses on embedding career readiness into daily instruction, with grant funding of $60,000 through August 1, 2027.  


2025/26 Academic Calendars

The 2025/26 traditional and year-round academic calendars were adopted by the Board.


Website Hosting and Districtwide Communication System

The Board approved moving the district’s website hosting from Edlio and districtwide communication system from PowerSchool to Active Internet Technologies, dba Finalsite, when both contracts expire at the end of the 2024/25 school year. Finalsite offers both services with more efficiency and increased flexibility at a comparable cost of $101,500 for a five-year period from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2030.

INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

2025/26 Budget Development: Calendar, Guidelines, Assumptions

Dr. Tim McLellan, Assistant Superintendent, Business Services, reviewed the 2025/26 budget planning calendar as well as the preliminary guidelines and assumptions for the budget development process. The calendar identifies a timeline of important dates by which particular financial reporting will be completed, and the guidelines and assumptions explain the internal and external factors affecting forecasted revenues and expenditures associated with next school year’s budget.
