Employee of the Year Recognition
Employee of the Year nominees and winners were introduced and congratulated by the Board of Trustees.
Teacher of the Year : Nominees for 2018/19 Teacher of the Year were:

From the nominees, the Association of Cypress Teachers membership elected Sue Ochoa as the district's Teacher of the Year.
Classified Employee of the Year : Nominees for 2018/19 Classified Employee of the Year were:

From these nominees, Terry Lopp was selected as the district's Classified Employee of the Year.

Contract Renewals
The following agreements were approved by the Board:

Brandman University - Supervised fieldwork for teacher education and school psychology
Term: March 13, 2019 - March 12, 2022
Cost: No cost to the district

Qualtrics LLC - Subscription software for collecting and analyzing data
Term: March 27, 2019 - March 26, 2020
Cost: $15,100.01

Colbi Technologies - Account-Ability construction management software
Term: March 20, 2019 - March 19, 2020
Cost: $5,000

ICS Services, Inc. - Unit price bid master agreement for data system improvements
Term: 2019/20 School Year
Cost: Each project initiated under the master agreement will be approved separately

Collective Bargaining   
A public hearing was held regarding the proposal from the Association of Cypress Teachers for 2019/20 negotiations. Items for negotiation include wages, hours of employment, health and welfare benefits, organizational security, and implementation of Assembly Bill 119. No speakers addressed the Board during the public hearing, and the Board subsequently voted to accept the ACT proposal.

California State Preschool Closure Due to Emergency Conditions
With the recent heavy rains, the Cypress School District State Preschool Program was required to close a classroom on January 17, 2019, and February 4, 2019, due to a roof leak. As required by the California Department of Education, the Board adopted a resolution authorizing the district to seek reimbursement of program expenses from the state.

Library Book Donation by Board of Trustees
Every year, in honor of Day of the Teacher and Classified School Employee Week, the Board of Trustees donates a book to each school library. This year, the Board selected the book Hidden Figures, Young Reader Edition. The cost will be reimbursed by the Board of Trustees.

Purchase of Desktop Computers   
The Board approved the purchase of 75 HP ProDesk 400 G5 desktop computers for teachers from IT Saavy LLC under California Multiple Awards Schedule (CMAS) contract 3-17-70-3483A at a total cost of $59,604.88. CMAS contracts provide a cost-effective manner for school districts to procure various products and services without having to go through the competitive bidding process.

2018/19 Second Interim Financial Report
School districts are required by the state to submit two interim financial reports each fiscal year and certify if the district will (positive certification), will not (negative certification), or might (qualified certification) meet its financial obligations for the current fiscal year and two succeeding fiscal years. The Board approved filing a positive certification for the district's 2018/19 Second Interim Financial Report.
