Dear Neighbor,

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! As a proud FCPS graduate, I want to thank all of our teachers and school employees who go above and beyond every day to ensure our students and families learn and thrive here in Fairfax County.

This week also marks the transition out from the emergency phase of the pandemic, as the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency that has been in place since 2020 will end on May 11. You can still order free COVID-19 tests if you have not already reached the order limit. Read more about what this means and what's next!

Land Use and Transportation Updates
Water Tower Updates
The existing Poplar Heights Tank was constructed by the City of Falls Church in 1952 on a small 0.13-acre site located in the Poplar Heights neighborhood in the Providence District.

Fairfax Water acquired the City of Falls Church water system in January 2014 and continues to integrate the former City water system with the Fairfax Water system. As part of this effort, Fairfax Water identified the need to replace the Poplar Heights Tank to improve water pressure, enhance water quality, and provide additional water storage required by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
