Board of Education Special Meeting/Work Session Re-cap

The Fairview Park Board of Education held a Special Board Meeting/Work Session on August 6, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the cafetorium at Gilles-Sweet Elementary.

Highlights include:

  • Mr. Shucofsky read the resignation letter of Board Member Mark St. John, and thanked him for his 12 years of service to the Board of Education. The Board agreed to ask a former board member to fill the vacancy until January 2020 as opposed to going through an application and interview process in the interest of time. Three board seats are up in the November 2019 election. Dr. Wagner reviewed the Board appointment procedures with the Board. A copy of these procedures can be viewed here.

  • Treasurer Kim Sperling and Coordinator of Special Education Janice Price provided a summary of the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) and the various budget allocations that the district receives and has available. The document they shared can be viewed here.

  • The Board continued discussion regarding the Learning Management Systems Committee, and are currently searching for a third-party facilitator for future meetings.

NEXT MEETING: Regular Board of Education Meeting: August 20, 2019. 6:30 p.m. in the Gilles-Sweet Cafetorium.
