Good afternoon,

I hope this email finds you well on the eve of the final CB6 Full Board meeting of 2020.

You can register and see the meeting agenda here. As previewed yesterday, and due to our Permits and Licenses committee approval, the agenda is now set and includes the liquor license request for 285 Nevins Street. There’s a lot more on the agenda, so we will have to move quickly unless folks want to zoom well into the night.

Speaking of agendas, our most significant charter mandated role will be activated in 2021. The Department of City Planning made its much-anticipated announcement that they plan to certify the Gowanus Neighborhood Plan on January 19th, 2021. At that point, our public review, as part of what is known as the Uniform Land Use Review Process (ULURP), begins

It feels like a long time ago (and it was), but I'm looking forward to getting answers to things we laid out in the close to 30 pages of scoping questions and comments we submitted back in the spring of 2019. If you want to see those questions along with our other statements regarding the pending rezoning, click here.

We will undoubtedly have several post-certification meetings in addition to the precertification meetings held over the past few weeks, and I’m optimistic that DCP staff members will be regular presenters at the meetings.

The pending Gowanus rezoning is the most extensive rezoning of the Mayor’s term and the most significant thing, as far as land use, that’s been before CB6 in my time and maybe ever. While this is a necessary process under the City Charter, we have a solemn obligation to our community and city, so it is critical that we as a board focus on the proposal's content.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got to say, for now, don’t forget tomorrow night's board meeting, stay safe and have a good Tuesday.
