May 12, 2022
Dear Neighbor,

On Tuesday, the Board approved the FY 2023 budget plan that incorporates changes reflected in the approved mark-up package. You will find an outline of the changes in my April 28 Palchik Post. One historic milestone I would like to highlight--we were able to dedicate one full penny of the tax rate to Affordable Housing (in addition to more than one penny in one-time funds), with a commitment to reach two pennies in recurring funds in the near future. The adopted budget reduces the tax rate by three cents, from $1.14 to $1.11 per $100. The Board also endorsed the Safe Streets for All Program that will improve transportation safety in the County, especially for active transportation users. You can read more Board meeting highlights below.

For several weeks now, cases and outbreaks of COVID-19 have increased in Fairfax County and across Northern Virginia. Several jurisdictions in the region have transitioned from low to medium COVID-19 Community Level, as defined by CDC, including Fairfax County. Please continue to be vigilant and sign up for your booster shots once you are able! You can find all the latest COVID-19 information here.

Lastly, I am thrilled to announce that in addition to Nottoway Nights in Vienna, we’ve now added the Global Music & Dance in Falls Church. This new program will highlight local international arts groups, with a focus on dancing. All shows are free, outdoors, and appeal to all ages. You can find more information about the Providence Presents schedule below. I hope you will come out and join the fun!
