School Board reviews referendum recommendation
To help address growing enrollment, aging buildings, budget pressures and academic needs, the School Board reviewed a recommendation for a Nov. 5, 2019 referendum at its June 10 work session.  The recommendation is to bring a three-question ballot to voters in November. The Board will decide whether to move forward with the referendum at its June 24 meeting.  Read more HERE.

How did the legislative session impact Easter Carver County Schools?
The Minnesota Legislature adjourned in late May, after approving a number of bills including one for education funding. The results for schools were mixed. Learn more HERE.

It's not too early to complete transportation forms for next year!
The transportation dept. is already starting to plan for the 2019-20 school year - which begins on Sept. 3 for all K-12 grade students. Preliminary bus info will be posted on Campus Portal by August 2. If your elementary or middle school student has any schedule other than traveling to and from home and school next fall, please complete the Elementary & Middle School Transportation Form. Any high school students in grades 10-12 who will need busing must complete the High School Transportation Registration Form.  Find more info HERE.

Reminder to parents: please complete equity survey
Eastern Carver County Schools is working with Dr. Muhammad Khalifa of the Culturally Responsive School Leadership Institute to conduct an equity audit of our school district. This is a research-based, systematic way of identifying and understanding equity-related issues. Input from parents is a very important part of this process. Last month, parents were emailed a link to SurveyMonkey to complete the audit. There has been some confusion because the email is not coming from district staff.

The email is from Sherief Elabbady, who is part of Dr. Khalifa's team, and comes from a Gmail address. The surveys are anonymous, and the district will only receive an aggregate summary of the data, but responses are tied to emails to ensure that one person can't complete it multiple times.  If you have children in more than one building, focus on the school where you feel your response would be most impactful. The survey takes most respondents between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.

If you have not yet completed the survey, please consider adding your feedback to inform this work.

Children and families are welcome to join Eastern Carver County Schools Community Education staff as we play games, enjoy a healthy snack, complete an art project and other educational activities. Weekly events are free.
