Board approves new principal of North Barrington Elementary
At the June 1 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved Dr. Lisa West as the new principal of North Barrington Elementary School. Dr. West comes to Barrington 220 from Woodland School District 50 where she has served as Principal of Woodland Intermediate School for the past year and previously served five years as the Principal of Woodland Elementary School. Prior to joining Woodland School District 50, Dr. West worked as a 5th and 6th grade teacher for Glencoe District 35. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. Dr. West will begin in her new role on July 1. She replaces Austin Johnson, who will serve as the district's Director of Safety & Security beginning July 1.
Summer school begins Monday, June 7
In his Superintendent Report Dr. Harris shared that Barrington 220 summer school will begin on Monday, June 7. As required by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), students and staff will continue wearing masks, practicing social distancing and participating in contact tracing when necessary. ISBE plans to issue new guidance for the 2021-22 school year later this summer. As a reminder, due to the construction that will be taking place at both middle school campuses this summer as part of the Build 220 projects, all in person middle school summer courses will be held at Barrington High School.
