Grants Approved for Day Reporting Center and Jail-Based Medication-Assisted Treatment Programs
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved submitting and accepting grants to support key behavioral health and reentry programs in Washington County. This includes funding for the Day Reporting Center’s programs, which provide counseling, behavioral health services, monitoring, and other participant support. It also includes the Detention Center’s Jail-Based Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program, serving individuals with opioid use disorder through medication-assisted treatment, counseling, peer recovery services, and reentry support. Additionally, the Board approved applying for and accepting the Maryland Opioid Overdose Response (MOOR) grant to continue MAT services at the Detention Center, covering medications, crushed pill pouches, rapid drug testing devices, and contractual medical staff. All grants are one-year awards and will supplement operational costs while ensuring the continued delivery of critical public health and public safety services.
