I was born and raised on a farm in Iowa. My family consisted of Mom and Dad,
two brothers and five sisters (kind of like a board of directors). I attended a
small rural high school with 12 classmates (kind of like a board of directors).
I graduated from Ellsworth Community College and the University of North
Iowa with a BA in elementary education. I’ve always taught middle school
students. Teaching the 5
th
grade was my favorite.
My husband, our two children, and I, moved to Arizona in 1985. I taught
middle school in Tolleson, Arizona until I retired in 2008. I was nominated
by a student and was awarded the Silver Apple Award, a prestigious honor
presented by KTVK Television in May, 2000. I am also a National Board
Certified Teacher.
My husband, Robert Browning, and I, moved to Westbrook Village in
May of 2012.
I am a volunteer as a dispatcher for the Westbrook Posse and also serve as
their treasurer. I was awarded their Dispatcher of the Year in 2016. I also
volunteer in the first grade at Thompson Ranch Elementary in the
Dysart School District.
My favorite volunteer position is chauffeur, playmate and helpmate to six
of my grandchildren (out of 12) that live in the valley. Those experiences really
make me smile!
I thoroughly enjoy living in Westbrook Village. I love this place and want to
improve it! I’ve often thought our board has a need for a female perspective.
