Board of Education provides feedback on Framework 220 strategic priorities
At the March 21 Barrington 220 Board of Education meeting, the Board heard an update on the district's strategic planning process, Framework 220. During the 2021-22 school year, Framework 220 included a significant community engagement process, which helped identify six strategic priorities for the district.

This school year, the district created a design team for each of the six strategic priorities. Each design team is made up of approximately a dozen staff members from the District Leadership Team. This past winter, district leaders collaborated with staff members at each building to establish measurable objectives under each strategic priority. At the March 21 meeting, Board members had the chance to provide feedback on those objectives. The district will share out information with stakeholders this spring and continue refining the work, before bringing a plan to the Board of Education this summer for approval.

Board approves school calendar policy change
At the March 21 Board meeting, the Board approved changing a Board policy related to the school calendar. The former policy states that the target first day of school will be no earlier than August 20. The new policy states the target first day of school will be no earlier than August 18 and no later than August 22. This change will allow more flexibility in designing the school calendar each year, which will ensure greater continuity of instruction throughout the school year for students and staff. 
New Board to be sworn in at May 2 meeting
At the March 21 Board meeting, the Board approved Tuesday, May 2 as the date for the organizational Board meeting that typically follows a Board election. The meeting will be held at 8am at the District Administrative Center. During this meeting, the new Board is seated and elects Board officers. Board members will also vote on the Board meeting schedule for the next two years. The timeline for seating the Board is mandated by law. Within 21 days of the election, the district will receive the official, written confirmation of votes. The district must receive this before seating a new Board. The new Board must be seated within 40 days of the election, which is April 4, 2023.
D220 student achievement information
In his Superintendent's Report at the March 21 Board meeting, Dr. Hunt shared that the district has a new dashboard which will serve as a one-stop shop for student achievement data. The dashboard is a dynamic tool that stakeholders can access to learn more about state and AP testing data, district finances, and awards. Click here to view the dashboard.
Board to tour high school fine arts centers next month
In his Superintendent's Report at the March 21 Board meeting, Dr. Hunt shared that Board members will tour various IL high school fine arts facilities next month. The tours are part of the process to create the design work for a potential new fine arts center at BHS, which was an identified project within the $147 million dollar referendum that Barrington 220 area voters approved in March 2020. Although the cost to build a new fine arts center was not included in the referendum, creating the design work will provide the Board of Education and the community with the necessary information to determine the appropriate next steps. Barrington 220 participates in Lake County audit
In his Superintendent's Report at the March 21 Board meeting, Dr. Hunt shared that the district recently participated in a State Compliance Audit through the Lake County Regional Office of Education. School districts participate in this process every four to five years. The three areas of focus for the audit include: Compliance, Licensure, and Professional Development.
4 BHS grads make 2023 Forbes under 30 list
In his Superintendent's Report at the March 21 Board meeting, Dr. Hunt congratulated four BHS graduates who have been named to the 2023 Forbes Under 30 list! Congratulations to Ashley Ward (BHS '13), Olivia Cheng (BHS '16), Owen Prunskis (BHS '11), and Mack Mazeski (BHS '11). Ashley was recognized in the Sports category. Olivia was recognized in the Art & Style category. Owen and Mack were recognized in the Healthcare category.
