Dear Darrow Community,

Since our communication on Monday morning, the Darrow Board of Trustees has continued to pursue every possible avenue of keeping Darrow School open for the '24-'25 school year. We have continued to receive gift pledges, as well as many heartfelt communications about Darrow's place in individual hearts, in this community, and in this world. We have heard all of your voices. The Board reached a decision tonight to give our community a little more time to hit our minimum goal of $5 million. However, we still have not yet surpassed the $2.5 million midpoint, so we have a long way to go.

The Board voted on Wednesday night as follows: if we have not reached our goal of at least $5 million dollars in unrestricted gift pledges by the close of business on January 25, Darrow will cease operations at the end of this school year. If we do reach at least $5 million, we will remain open for the 2024-2025 school year. The vote was unanimous with one abstention, and thus, no further vote of the Board will be necessary after the deadline.

We are so grateful for the tremendous efforts of everyone who has participated in this all-out effort to keep Darrow going. Countless trustees and other individuals have volunteered enormous amounts of time to this school over its long history. None of us do it for any other reason than a love for the school and the community.

With gratitude,

Darrow Board of Trustees
