Emergency Broadband Program
Charter Communications announced recently that they are participating in the FCC's Emergency Broadband Program and qualifying households are eligible for a credit up to $50 per month toward their internet plans. With so many of our workers and students being dependent on their home internet, it is important to make access affordable for all.
Households can qualify for the benefit based on several criteria, comprising income level and eligibility for the National School Lunch Program (or the Community Eligibility Provision of the NSLP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.
Tenant Relief
In previous newsletters, I have shared information on how tenants can apply for relief from missed rental payments. Today, I am happy to share information about relief for tenants. Last week,, the Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program (OERAP) opened applications and will distribute $204 million in federal funding. This program can help with rent or utilities payments for low income households (households at 80% of Area Median Income or less, and which have experienced a financial hardship). OERAP can cover current and future rent, in addition to past rent.
