Boatnik, Colorful Socks, Tenant Relief, and Memorial Day
Boatnik
We all missed Boatnik last year, but we can celebrate that this year's events are occurring! I'll be there and I hope you will too! Visit the official website for more information or view the weekend schedule here.
TRU Day
Last week, I was happy to wear colorful socks on the House floor and recognize constituent Jana Baker and Southern Oregon University as part of Technical and Regional University (TRU) Day! You can view my full speech below.
Emergency Broadband Program
Charter Communications announced recently that they are participating in the FCC's Emergency Broadband Program and qualifying households are eligible for a credit up to $50 per month toward their internet plans. With so many of our workers and students being dependent on their home internet, it is important to make access affordable for all.

Households can qualify for the benefit based on several criteria, comprising income level and eligibility for the National School Lunch Program (or the Community Eligibility Provision of the NSLP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.

Interested consumers who are not currently Spectrum customers should visit spectrum.com/getqualified or call 1-855-662-9946. Current Spectrum customers can visit spectrum.net/broadbandbenefit to learn more.

Tenant Relief
In previous newsletters, I have shared information on how tenants can apply for relief from missed rental payments. Today, I am happy to share information about relief for tenants. Last week,, the Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program (OERAP) opened applications and will distribute $204 million in federal funding. This program can help with rent or utilities payments for low income households (households at 80% of Area Median Income or less, and which have experienced a financial hardship). OERAP can cover current and future rent, in addition to past rent.
Wildfire Awareness Month
May is Wildfire Awareness Month. As we go into Memorial Day Weekend, it's the unofficial start of summer and, for many, the kickoff of camping season. As our district knows, wildfires can be devastating. It's up to all of us to do our part to keep our state safe this summer!
Memorial Day
As we enter into this three-day weekend, I encourage everyone to remember that this is more than just a weekend for BBQs and a day off. This is the time to honor those who gave their life serving our country. Thank you to those heroes!
All my best,
