"The Devil's in the Details."
Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
Details? - Not for me!
Many painters may believe a detail is made with a one-hair brush, taking weeks to paint a realistic bird's eyeball. My
details arrive at the last minute of a loosely brushed painting with a delicate touch of color... or a convincing brush stroke that finishes the story.
Personally, I have no interest in painting Photo Realism. Nothing wrong with painting and exhibiting your technical skills and years of practice. In fact, detailed realists paint so well, I don't feel the need to repeat their work!
The details that grab my attention are images of a brush stroke resembling steam rising from a hot cup of coffee, or a sparkling hot spot shimmering on a glass of wine, or a bright ray of sunshine in an abstract landscape.
When I am finishing a loose painting, my details are a few brushstrokes or even a finger full of paint - adding well-placed color at the last possible moment - making the painting sing!
No one will remember your details of realistic images... but they will always remember your
artistic imagination, originality and passion.
Save the detailing for the car wash guy...
