Drawing the undraped model in a Burridge Studio Workshop is a painters' retreat that pushes you out of your safe zone and into a brand new looser, abstract direction of drawing and painting the human form.

Imagine a small gathering of painters - all levels - practicing their drawing skills with live, professional models. Skill level is not required... what is encouraged is a passion to draw and experiment with a variety of materials.

In this BobBlast, I show you some of the materials I use to draw. I start with a mid-tone of grey all over the surface. But why? Simply... because I'm halfway done even before I begin drawing!

For drawings, I use Three Values: Black, Grey and White. One of my favorite ways to start is with a toned grey sketch paper, like Strathmore Toned Gray pad. These papers are also available in different grays as well as tan. If the paper is already gray, you're halfway there! All you need to do is sketch with black and white. I use black charcoal, black pastel and white pastel. The mid-tone has already been established by the color of the paper. Cool, huh?

In this video I also show you some special effects we do in this Studio Workshop - watercolor washes on top of drawings on BFK Rives paper, charcoal drawing on a canvas, drawing with Derwent InkTense Pencils and Blocks and paint sketching. The diverse creativity is exciting and infectious!
