BobBlast #237

Presenting your Paper Paintings.

Welcome back to another BobBlast.

This week's blast is about how I package and present my paper paintings, primarily my daily warmups.

When the final coat of varnish has dried, I sign the work. Sign a consistent signature (that's your BRAND) either on the bottom left or bottom right... not in the middle! Sign in a clear area so your signature can be seen, well inside the border so the mat doesn't cover it.

I tape the painting to the mat, using white artist tape - on the back, across the top only. That is all you need to secure the painting to the mat.

Next, sign the back of the painting, as well as the back board with your name, title and a copyright statement. I use either a self-inking stamp or a self-adhesive label. Here is the wording that I use:

"This is an original painting created with professional, conservation quality art materials, protected under the copyright laws and may only be reproduced with permission in writing from the artist."

Matted painting and backboard slip into a clear, resealable bag. Once you have all the materials in front of you, you can put these together rather quickly! Then off to the retail bins they go...

Professional Look equals $$$
