BobBlast #275

"Your Workshop Table Set-Up."

Welcome back to another BobBlast!

Third in a series! The first was all about workshop materials, then packing for flying - so now, this BobBlast is about setting up your table for a workshop.

I know we are all excited about attending a workshop! It all starts with deciding what art materials to take, packing efficiently and then setting up your table. In a word... don't pack your entire studio. Take only what you think you will use!

When students get to my workshop, the first thing I have them do before spreading out their art materials is to protect the table with a clear, 4 ml plastic sheet, stretched tight and taped to the table. Watch the video to see my favorite type of tape!

The paint is squeezed out directly on the plastic sheet. This is where we mix the paint - the plastic is the palette!

Brushes - How many brushes do you take to a workshop? And how many do you actually paint with? Displaying all your brushes in a container not only takes up your painting space, it also can tip over easily! Watch the video to see my solution!

I place paint, water bucket and brushes on my right side - because I am right-handed. The flow is easier, I am not always looking for my materials. I have found - for me, the less I have around me on the table, the freer I paint. Nothing gets lost or splashed!

Start off with less... end up with more!

Thanks again for watching and telling your friends! All my BobBlasts are archived on my website and my YouTube Channel. We post new studio tips weekly that offer real content, substance and useful techniques that work for me. And they're free! We appreciate your interest, questions, comments and support!

Some of our subscribers have asked about the "behind the scenes" people who make the weekly BobBlast possible - so we want to give a shout out and thank Bo von Hohenlohe for editing the BobBlast videos. Bo also produces websites and helps authors self-publish book. Please visit his website at www.bvhprods.com.

Below is a list of featured workshops - but did you know that I also offer private sessions in my studio? Perfect for beginners who want a crash course in watercolor or acrylic or for artists who are designing an exhibit and want to bounce ideas for content and techniques. I devote 100% of my studio time to you! Designed for 1 to 3 people - if you are interested or have questions, email [email protected]

Here's a quick reminder and some upcoming workshops and dates.
