Painting Burgundy & Blue - Demo Part Two, Halfway

Welcome back to another BobBlast!

And... continuing on from the previous BobBlast, you saw how I got this far with my painting "Burgundy and Blue."

In this next step, I freely brush color all over the surface of the canvas, being careful to not make mud by lightly putting on the color and quickly getting off the surface. Use short choppy strokes of color. Note: I am not coloring it in - like a coloring book - or scrumbling the color around the canvas. Doing THAT will cause mud. Get in and get out.

Once the image feels established, I stop. I never finish the painting in one session. Hang it on the wall at this point and live with it awhile. Look at it and compare it with your original goals.

My goal for this second "pass" at the painting was to add some darks to the sketch, letting the orange and the gold underpainting peek through. Next week, I will add lights and you will see the painting start to take form.
