Adam Mays (left) with the Legislative Director for Congressman John Lewis.
BDI President and CEO Wayne McMillan and Chief Advancement Officer Lisa Kennedy made their annual trip to Washington D.C. this June to meet with legislators as part the 2015 SourceAmerica Grassroots Advocacy Conference. They were joined in their travels by BDI's Employee of the Year for 2015, Adam Mays, and his mother, Berta Mays.

In total, BDI representatives made over 30 Capitol Hill visits with representatives from Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Michigan during the one-week conference. Adam also participated in SourceAmerica's comprehensive self-advocacy training, where he met fellow AbilityOne employees and learned grassroots advocacy best practices.

BDI Receives a $250,000 Grant from The James M. Cox Foundation
BDI is grateful to the James M. Cox Foundation for its generous gift of $250,000 in support of our strategic initiatives campaign. These strategic initiatives will allow BDI to restructure and strengthen our programs to better serve the needs of both job candidates and community employers. In addition, BDI has enjoyed a long-term partnership with Autotrader, a Cox Automotive company.

Charity Golf Tournament Supports BDI's Mission
The 21st Annual Bobby Dodd Memorial Golf Tournament wowed golfers and BDI supporters alike with celebrity guests including Bill Curry and Dan Reeves, a cornucopia of sports memorabilia for purchase in a silent auction fundraiser, and its first ever helicopter ball drop.

Hosted by the Bobby Dodd Charities Foundation at the Atlanta Athletic Club, the tournament raised more than $30,000 to support Bobby Dodd Institute, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award, and the Kim King Foundation.

We were grateful to be a beneficiary of the tournament - and to have the opportunity to participate! BDI's team (pictured above) included President and CEO Wayne McMillan, staff member Ellis Axson, and board members Fay Pearce, Steve Tidwell, and Jim Terry. Paul Shane of the Atlanta-based musical duo Banks and Shane also played on BDI's team.
